Job Title: Database Administrator (L1)

Job Location: Hinjewadi Phase 1, Pune (WFO)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator (L1) with 2 to 4 years
of hands-on experience in supporting and managing databases such as MySQL,
MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Oracle. The role involves database
administration, performance optimization, backup and recovery management, and
ensuring high availability across various environments like Development, QA,
UAT, and Production.

Key Responsibilities:

End-to-End Database Administration

* Install, configure, and perform version upgrades of databases.
* Manage user accounts and permissions.
* Collaborate with senior teams on schema design and optimization.
* Set up and maintain environments across Dev, QA, UAT, and Production.

Performance Optimization

* Assist in query tuning and create indexing strategies to improve database
performance.
* Perform resource utilization analysis (CPU, memory, I/O) to identify and
mitigate performance bottlenecks.
* Conduct database structure and normalization reviews to ensure optimal
performance.
* Participate in proactive performance audits and implement recommendations.

Monitoring & Alerting

* Monitor real-time database health and performance metrics.
* Set up custom dashboards and alert thresholds for critical databases.
* Monitor database replication and replication lag, escalating issues when
necessary.
* Integrate database monitoring with enterprise tools like Prometheus,
Grafana, and Nagios.

Backup & Recovery

* Support scheduled database backups and configure point-in-time recovery.
* Manage offsite/cloud backup storage and ensure regular restore tests for
disaster recovery readiness.
* Troubleshoot backup failures and recovery issues.

High Availability (HA) & Failover Support





* Assist in configuring MySQL replication, Group Replication, or InnoDB
Cluster.
* Support MongoDB Replica Sets and Sharding for high availability.
* Contribute to failover strategy planning and execution.
* Assist in performing zero-downtime maintenance for critical systems.

Ongoing Maintenance & Support

* Provide 24x7 incident response and troubleshoot database-related issues in
production environments.
* Apply regular patching and security updates to maintain database health.
* Assist in capacity planning and growth analysis to ensure systems can scale
as required.
* Contribute to the documentation of processes, SOPs, and knowledge transfer
sessions for team members.

Collaboration and Team Support

* Work closely with senior database architects and other teams to ensure
smooth system operations.
* Help troubleshoot incidents and provide support for application/database
issues.
* Support the development and execution of disaster recovery drills.

Required Skills & Experience:

· 2 to 4 years of experience in database administration with a focus on
MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Oracle databases.

· Hands-on experience with database backups, performance tuning, query
optimization, and troubleshooting.

· Knowledge of high availability (HA) setups for databases and systems.

· Good understanding of security best practices for database
environments.

· Robust problem-solving and communication skills.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills:

· Experience with database management tools (e.g., Percona Monitoring
and Management (PMM)).

· Certifications in database management or related technologies are a
plus.

Educational Qualification:

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information
Technology, or a related field.
