Job Summary

We are looking for a Jr. Mechanical Engineer – Material Planning to handle material planning, raw-material calculations and preparation of Material Requirement Statements based on approved BOMs, mechanical drawings and project requirements.

The candidate should have proper knowledge of production planning, material planning, MS Excel, MS Word and the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.

Key Responsibilities

- Study and interpret approved Bills of Materials (BOMs) and mechanical drawings.
- Understand supply order quantities and production requirements.
- Calculate raw-material requirements based on component quantity, dimensions, material specifications and raw-material sizes.
- Consider machining allowance, cutting allowance and expected process wastage.
- Prepare raw-material calculation sheets and Material Requirement Statements (MRS).
- Compare required material with available stock.
- Identify material shortages, excess stock and material utilization requirements.
- Prepare cutting lists and material utilization statements.
- Coordinate with Stores, Purchase, Production and Engineering teams.
- Share material shortage details with the concerned Engineer for purchase planning.
- Maintain project-wise material calculation and planning records.
- Update calculations whenever there are changes in BOMs, quantities or drawing revisions.
- Support production planning and material planning activities.





Eligibility Criteria

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering.
- Candidates with 2–3 years of relevant experience in material planning, production planning or manufacturing operations.
- Candidates from the manufacturing industry should apply.
- Candidates with experience in automobile manufacturing, auto-component manufacturing or vehicle manufacturing companies will be given preference.
- Freshers should not apply.
- Candidate should have proper knowledge of production planning, material planning, MS Excel and MS Word.
- Candidate should be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and BOMs.

Required Skills

- Good knowledge of mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of plates, bars, forgings, castings, tubes and other engineering materials.
- Basic knowledge of machining and fabrication processes.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word.
- Robust mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to calculate material requirements, allowances and wastage.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
