Optometry Intern

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Clinical Research Support: Assist the clinical research team with data collection, patient guidance, and data management under the supervision of experienced optometrists and other healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists, diabetologists, opticians, staff nurses, and biomedical engineers.

Data Collection: Collect relevant clinical data under supervision, including: Anterior and posterior imaging Demographic information Refractive errors Slit lamp examinations Diagnosis and treatment details from ophthalmologists This data will be analyzed for product development and improvements (hardware, software, or AI).

· Data Management: Accurately document clinical parameters daily using Excel or project management tools based on the clinical studies assigned.

· Validation and Timely Execution: Independently handle internal or external validation tasks and complete data collection activities within stipulated timeframes. · Reporting

Observations: Report clinical, operational, and technical observations (positive or negative) associated with devices or clinical research.

· Data Submission: Provide relevant data related to clinical studies promptly upon request.

· Continuous Learning: Use this opportunity to expand your knowledge of technology and clinical practices. Proactively research and identify online courses relevant to Optometry and Clinical Research for skill enhancement.

Adhere to ethical and legal standards throughout the research process, including maintaining confidentiality, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring professional conduct with study participants.

Requirements

- Recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Optometry / B.Optom.
- Robust verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable interacting with patients and participants from diverse backgrounds.
- Willingness to travel for field-based study activities.
- Good attention to detail and ability to accurately document information.
- Comfortable working in a team and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
- Basic understanding of ophthalmic assessments and clinical procedures.
- Willingness to learn and work in a research-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills

- Prior exposure to clinical settings, community screening, or research projects.
- Basic knowledge of fundus examination and other routine ophthalmic assessments.
- Ability to communicate in English and local/regional languages will be an advantage.
- Comfortable working in dynamic field environments.
