Position: Senior Microbiologist

Role Overview:

A Senior Microbiologist is an experienced scientist who specializes in studying microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. They lead research projects, oversee laboratory operations, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and mentor junior staff. Their work often contributes to advancements in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, environmental science, and biotechnology.

Key Responsibilities:

· Perform routine procedure, using standardized procedure with moderate daily supervision.

· Carrying out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses.

· To maintain daily monitor Record, Logbooks, Worksheets and Quality related documents.

· To perform media preparation & required diluents.

· Proper handling of equipment's for testing & immediate reporting of non –conforming work to lab head.

· Maintains appropriate control of confidential and proprietary information and disclosure of which could have adverse effect.

· To ensure that the proper records are maintained at all stages of testing and ensure the validity of results.

· To monitor the workplace condition regularly and record the same periodically during the testing activities are carried out.

· To handle the samples throughout the testing and preservation in such a way that it does not create any problem in testing.

· To use available resources on optimum basis to achieve maximum output during the testing.





· To issue Test Report and Providing statement of conformity, opinions & interpretation

· To ensure the Development, modification, verification &Validation; of methods.

- Supervise and manage all microbiological testing activities (e.g., sterility testing, endotoxin, microbial limit test, environmental monitoring, identification, and water analysis).
- Ensure appropriate validation, verification, and calibration of test methods, equipment, and instruments.
- Authorize test methods, ensure accuracy of test reports, and approve technical procedures.
- Provide technical direction and problem-solving support to laboratory analysts.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

· Ensure compliance with ISO 17025:2017 requirements and the laboratory’s Quality Management System (QMS).

· Participate in internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of non-conformities.

· Review and approve SOPs, work instructions, and quality control records.

· Ensure traceability of measurements and maintenance of reference standards and cultures.

· Train, mentor, and assess the competency of technical staff.

· Schedule and supervise daily laboratory activities and ensure optimal utilization of resources.





· Promote a culture of safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

· Review and approve test reports, validation protocols, and other technical documents.

· Maintain proper records of test data, calibrations, and equipment maintenance.

· Prepare technical summaries and reports for management review.

· Ensure all equipment is calibrated, maintained, and functioning properly.

· Plan procurement of media, reagents, consumables, and equipment.

· Oversee inventory management and ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

- Master’s or Ph.D. in Microbiology or a specialized subfield.
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience.
- Team management: Leading lab teams, mentoring junior microbiologists.
- Project coordination: Planning and executing research or quality control projects.
- Communication: Writing reports, presenting findings, and collaborating across departments.
- Problem-solving: Troubleshooting experiments and optimizing protocols.
- GMP/GLP knowledge: Understanding of Good Manufacturing and Laboratory Practices.
- FDA/ISO compliance: Familiarity with regulatory standards and documentation.
