Job Summary
We are looking for a Paint Shop Painter with experience in painting plastic automotive components. The candidate will be responsible for spray painting, surface preparation, paint mixing, quality inspection and maintaining smooth paint shop operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform spray painting of plastic automotive components as per required quality standards.
- Carry out surface cleaning, preparation and masking before painting.
- Mix and prepare paints, thinners and other materials as per process requirements.
- Operate spray painting equipment and maintain proper spray technique.
- Ensure uniform paint coverage, colour, finish and appearance.
- Identify common paint defects such as runs, sags, uneven coating, dust, orange peel and colour variation.
- Perform visual inspection of painted components.
- Carry out touch-up and rework when required.
- Maintain proper handling of painted and unpainted components.
- Follow paint shop process instructions and quality standards.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and 5S in the paint shop.
- Follow all safety procedures while handling paints, thinners and other chemicals.
- Maintain basic production and quality records.
- Coordinate with Quality and Production teams to resolve process or quality issues.
Requirements
- 1–2 years or more of experience in spray painting of plastic components preferred.
- Experience in automotive component painting will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of spray guns, paint mixing and basic painting processes.
- Ability to identify and correct common paint defects.
- Good understanding of paint shop safety and material handling.
- Good attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be hands-on, disciplined, quality-conscious and willing to work as part of a production team.
Experience with plastic automotive parts, PU/primer/base coat/clear coat or similar paint processes will be preferred.
