JD – Trainer for Deaf (Skilling Team)

About the Program

The Skilling Team focuses on enhancing employability and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities. The Deaf Trainer will play a key role in designing and delivering skill development programs for Deaf and Hard of Hearing candidates, preparing them for employment, engaging with employers and stakeholders, and ensuring successful training and placement outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Work closely with the Deaf skilling Programs and the Skilling Team to plan, design, and implement training initiatives for Deaf and Hard of Hearing candidates.
- Deliver employability, workplace readiness, and job-specific training programs using deaf accessible and inclusive training methodologies.
- Assess training needs and develop individualized learning plans based on candidate skills, career aspirations, communication preferences, and support requirements.
- Design, customize, and update accessible training content, assessments, and learning materials
- Build candidate capacity in areas such as workplace communication, professional behaviour, self-advocacy and independent living.
- Facilitate training through Indian Sign Language (ISL) and other accessible communication methods as required.
- Support candidates in developing workplace communication strategies, including interaction with hearing colleagues, supervisors, and customers.
- Conduct candidate assessments, monitor learning progress, maintain training records, and prepare reports on training outcomes and impact.
- Prepare candidates for interviews, workplace expectations, onboarding, and career progression opportunities.
- Provide post-placement support to candidates and employers to promote workplace inclusion, retention, and career growth.
- Collaborate with NGOs, training partners, educational institutions, and disability organizations to strengthen employment opportunities for Deaf candidates.
- Organize parent engagement sessions, community outreach activities,



and advocacy programs to support candidate development.
- Ensure timely documentation, reporting, and compliance with organizational, programmatic, and donor requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in any discipline.
- 2–3 years of experience in training, skilling, employability, rehabilitation, education, or livelihood programs for persons with disabilities.
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals is highly desirable.
- Robust understanding of Deaf culture, accessibility, inclusive communication, and workplace accommodations.
- Experience in conducting employability and workplace readiness training programs will be an advantage.

Language Requirements

- Proficiency in Indian Sign Language (ISL) is mandatory.
- Fluent written communication skills in English.

Location: Bengaluru / Karnataka

Reporting To: Senior Trainer – Deaf Programs,

Skilling Employment Type: Will be hired on contact basis and can be translated in to full time employee based on the performance

Disability: Deaf

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
