Role Overview

Migrate on-premises relational databases to AWS using robust database expertise, cloud architecture skills, and AI-accelerated tooling to deliver secure, reliable, low-downtime migrations.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess on-prem workloads and plan homogeneous/heterogeneous migrations.

- Convert schemas, stored procedures, and SQL across database engines.

- Design secure AWS targets (RDS, Aurora, EC2) and execute cutover/rollback plans.

- Automate deployments with Infrastructure as Code and tune performance post-migration.

Required Skills (Core)

- Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Db2; strong SQL and tuning.

- AWS Migration: DMS, SCT, RDS, Aurora, EC2, S3.

- Cloud Foundations: VPC, IAM, networking, Well-Architected Framework.

- Security: KMS, SSL/TLS encryption, least-privilege IAM, compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).

- Automation: Terraform/CloudFormation, Python/Bash/PowerShell,



CloudWatch monitoring.

Required Skills (AI)

- Generative AI / LLMs for translating proprietary SQL dialects (e.g., Oracle PL/SQL to PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL).

- AI-assisted coding tools for generating, explaining, and debugging migration scripts and infrastructure code.

- ML-based assessment and discovery tools for workload analysis and target sizing recommendations.

- AI-driven performance monitoring for anomaly detection and post-migration optimization.

- Prompt engineering skills for accurate, context-aware AI assistance.

A strong validation mindset to catch AI-generated errors (hallucinations, subtle logic bugs). Awareness of downstream AI/ML pipelines, data lakes, and vector databases.

Soft Skills

Problem-solving, clear communication, and project management awareness.

Nice to Have

AWS Certified Database - Specialty or Solutions Architect; enterprise migration experience.
