Position Summary

The Shift Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the sheet metal post-bending assembly process — including pneumatic tool operations and TIG welding — through to handover for powder coating. The role owns shift-level production output, process optimization, and manpower management to ensure quality, productivity, and safety targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Process Control

· Supervise post-bending assembly operations on sheet metal components using pneumatic tools (riveting, punching, and fastening) and TIG welding.

· Ensure components are assembled as per drawings/specifications before moving to powder coating.

· Monitor in-process quality at each stage —assembly, welding — and reject/rework non-conforming parts.

· Coordinate handover of finished sub-assemblies to the powder coating line, ensuring surface readiness (no weld spatter, burrs, oil/grease).

· Maintain shift-wise production records, output logs, and rejection/rework data.

2. Process Optimization

· Identify bottlenecks in the bending-to-assembly-to-coating flow and propose corrective actions.

· Drive cycle time reduction initiatives for pneumatic tool operations and TIG welding stations.

· Standardize work instructions/SOPs for assembly and welding processes.

· Work with quality/engineering teams to reduce rework and rejection rates.

· Support implementation of Lean/5S/Kaizen practices on the shop floor.

3. Manpower Handling

· Plan and allocate manpower (operators, welders, helpers) across workstations based on shift production targets.

· Conduct shift briefings — communicate production targets, priorities, and safety points.

· Monitor operator performance, skill gaps,



and coordinate on-the-job training (especially TIG welding and pneumatic tool handling).

· Manage attendance, shift changeovers, and absenteeism-related manpower adjustments.

· Enforce discipline, safety compliance, and PPE usage on the floor.

4. Equipment & Maintenance

· Ensure all pneumatic tools and TIG welding machines are in working condition; coordinate with maintenance for breakdowns.

· Schedule/track preventive maintenance for assembly and welding equipment.

· Maintain consumables inventory (welding wire, gas, pneumatic tool spares, etc.) to avoid line stoppages.

5. Quality & Safety

· Ensure adherence to quality standards before powder coating handover.

· Enforce shop floor safety protocols, especially around welding (fume extraction, fire safety) and pneumatic tool usage.

· Report and investigate any safety incidents or near-misses on shift.

Required Qualifications

· Diploma/B.E. in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).

· 3–4 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication/assembly in a manufacturing setting.

· Hands-on knowledge of TIG welding processes and pneumatic tool operations.

· Prior experience supervising shop floor manpower/shift operations.

· Familiarity with pre-powder-coating surface requirements is a plus.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
