Head – Fire & Safety

Job summary: Dynamic and results-driven Safety Leader with 20+ years of experience in the steel industry, specializing in EHS Strategy, Risk mitigation, Statutory compliance, and Culture transformation. Proven track record of driving zero-harm workplaces, enhancing operational safety standards, and leading large, cross-functional teams.

Role & Responsibility Strategic Safety Leadership: · Define and drive the organization-wide Safety strategy aligned with business objectives. Establish a zero-harm culture through strong Achievement Drive and leadership commitment. Set, monitor, and achieve KPIs such as TRIR, LTIFR, near-miss reporting, and safety compliance scores. Regulatory Compliance & Governance: · Ensure 100% compliance with statutory regulations (Factories Act, Environment Laws, ISO 45001). · Liaise with government authorities, auditors, and certification bodies. · Lead internal and external safety audits, ensuring timely closure of observations. Risk Management & Hazard Control: · Drive proactive risk identification through HIRA, HAZOP, JSA, and FMEA methodologies. · Implement robust hazard control measures across steel manufacturing processes (melting, casting, rolling). · Lead incident investigation and root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence. Team Leadership & Development · Lead, mentor, and develop the safety team, promoting Nurturing & Leading Team as a core capability. · Build leadership pipeline within the EHS function. · Drive accountability and ownership of safety across all levels of the organization. Contractor & Shop floor Safety Management · Ensure strict contractor safety management systems are implemented and adhered to. · Monitor high-risk activities such as work at height, confined space entry, hot work,



and heavy lifting operations. · Standardize permit-to-work (PTW) systems across plants. Emergency Preparedness & Crisis Management · Develop and implement Emergency Response Plans (ERP) for fire, explosion, chemical spills, etc. · Conduct regular mock drills and ensure readiness across units. · Lead crisis response with robust decision-making and coordination.

Academic Qualification: Engineering Graduate, PGDIS / RLI with 20+ exp in organization of repute, preferred from Metal & Mining or large manufacturing set-up.
