Job Summary

Senior Middleware Engineer / Platform Engineer Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Middleware Engineer / Platform Engineer to support a mission-critical Linux-based middleware platform. This role provides senior-level engineering and operational ownership of Apache Tomcat application platforms running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment. The engineer will ensure platform reliability, security, performance, and scalability while driving best practices in automation, CI/CD, and disaster recovery. In this role you will... • Architect, install, configure, and optimize Tomcat clusters on Red Hat Enterprise Linux virtual servers. • Provide specialized infrastructure support for various application teams including but not limited to VM procurement, build and preparation for application load and test according to departmental standards. • Support application deployment strategies and enforce SDLC, change management, and release governance. • Design and manage SSL/TLS, certificate lifecycle management, and secure communications. • Implement authentication, authorization, and Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations using LDAP and enterprise identity platforms. • Drive security hardening standards, vulnerability remediation, and compliance alignment for middleware and Linux systems. • Perform advanced root cause analysis and resolution of complex middleware, OS, and application issues. • Establish and maintain platform monitoring, logging, and alerting standards. • Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automation, and deployment tooling (e.g., Jenkins). • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across middleware and platform operations. • Collaborate with application development, database, network, and storage teams to deliver stable and scalable platforms. • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical platform incidents and escalations. Required Skills & Experience • 5+ years of relevant experience in systems and application production support within enterprise environments. • Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux/windows administration (physical and virtual). • Advanced experience with SSL/TLS, certificate authorities, and secure communications. • Proven expertise in middleware and OS security hardening, vulnerability management, and patching. • Experience designing and supporting high availability and disaster recovery architectures. • Strong troubleshooting skills across application, middleware, OS, and infrastructure layers. • Analyze, define, and document system and application requirements, including workflows, processes, interfaces, and technical controls, using standard methodologies. • Implement and support solutions aligned with enterprise technology standards and operational frameworks. • Evaluate and advise on emerging technologies, contributing to platform integration strategies and continuous improvement initiatives. • Working knowledge of LDAP/SSO integrations and identity management concepts. • Experience with CI/CD and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, Control-M). • Familiarity with SAN storage concepts and enterprise storage platforms. • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent professional experience accepted.
