JOB DESCRIPTION – OPHTHALMOLOGIST
Location: Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh
Position: Consultant Ophthalmologist / Eye Specialist
Employment Type: Full-Time / Visiting / On-Call

Reporting To: Medical Superintendent / Hospital In-Charge

Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Ophthalmologist to provide comprehensive eye care services, including consultation, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients with various eye-related conditions.

The candidate should be patient-focused, clinically competent and capable of handling OPD and emergency eye-related cases as per hospital requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct regular Ophthalmology OPD consultations and comprehensive eye examinations.
- Diagnose and manage common ophthalmic conditions and eye disorders.
- Perform visual acuity assessment and other relevant ophthalmic examinations.
- Manage cases related to cataract, glaucoma, conjunctivitis, corneal disorders, refractive errors, diabetic eye conditions and other common eye diseases.
- Prescribe appropriate medicines, spectacles and other treatment as clinically indicated.
- Identify cases requiring surgical intervention or advanced/specialist treatment and refer them appropriately.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative consultation and follow-up where applicable.
- Attend emergency eye-related cases as per hospital protocol.
- Maintain proper patient records, prescriptions, clinical notes and follow-up documentation.
- Coordinate with other departments and specialists whenever required.
- Educate patients regarding eye health, medication compliance and preventive eye care.
- Follow hospital clinical protocols, patient-safety standards and applicable professional regulations.

Qualifications

- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- MS / DNB / DO / equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology preferred/required as applicable to the role.




- Valid State Medical Council/NMC medical registration.
- Additional fellowship or training in Cataract, Glaucoma, Retina, Cornea, Paediatric Ophthalmology or other subspecialty will be an advantage.

Experience

- Fresh postgraduate candidates may be considered based on clinical competency.
- Experience in a hospital/eye-care centre will be preferred.
- Candidates with experience in Cataract, Glaucoma, Retina and general Ophthalmology will be preferred.

- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
- Good patient communication and counselling skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a multidisciplinary hospital team.
- Professional and ethical approach towards patient care.
- Good documentation and clinical record-keeping skills.

For Full-Time Position

- Regular Ophthalmology OPD as per hospital schedule.
- Participation in hospital clinical activities and emergency services as required.
- Availability for procedures/surgical services according to hospital infrastructure and privileges.

For Visiting / On-Call Position

- OPD visits as per mutually agreed schedule.
- Availability for consultation and emergency cases when required.
- Availability for surgical/procedural cases, if mutually agreed and supported by hospital facilities.
- Qualified fees/honorarium will be discussed based on experience, specialty and scope of services.
