About the Role

We are looking for a highly capable and hands-on Project Manager – CBG & Bioenergy to lead the development and execution of a greenfield Compressed Biogas (CBG) project in Madhya Pradesh.

The selected candidate will act as the Owner’s Representative and direct extension of the Promoter, taking end-to-end responsibility for project development from planning and approvals through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and commercial operations.

This is not a conventional plant-manager role. The candidate must be capable of independently representing the Promoter with EPC contractors, technology providers, consultants, government departments, lenders, vendors and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will combine strong project-execution capability, technical understanding, commercial acumen, contract-management skills and government/regulatory coordination experience.Project MANAGER – CBG & Bioenergy

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the entire project lifecycle from concept finalisation to commissioning and handover.
- Act as the primary Owner’s Representative for the project.
- Prepare and manage the overall project execution plan, schedule, milestones and critical path.
- Coordinate DPR, detailed engineering, technology selection and plant configuration.
- Review plant design, process flow, mass balance, utility requirements and equipment specifications.
- Evaluate and negotiate proposals from EPC contractors, technology suppliers and major equipment vendors.
- Identify scope gaps, unnecessary CAPEX, commercial risks and potential cost savings.
- Manage EPC contracts, purchase orders, payment milestones, performance guarantees, warranties, liquidated damages and variation orders.
- Monitor civil, mechanical, electrical, piping, instrumentation and commissioning activities.
- Ensure quality, safety, cost and schedule compliance throughout execution.
- Coordinate all statutory, regulatory and governmental approvals required for project implementation.
- Manage interactions with relevant Madhya Pradesh government departments and agencies.
- Coordinate eligibility, documentation, compliance and claims for applicable Central and State incentives/subsidies.
- Ensure subsidy eligibility is protected before procurement, contracting and commencement of eligible expenditure.
- Coordinate project-finance requirements with lenders, consultants, auditors and financial institutions.
- Support lender technical due diligence, drawdowns, utilisation certificates and project-monitoring requirements.
- Develop and implement the feedstock sourcing strategy, including biomass/Napier grass/cattle dung procurement, aggregation, storage and logistics.
- Evaluate long-term feedstock contracts and catchment-area economics.
- Coordinate CBG offtake arrangements with OMCs, CGD companies and other potential buyers.
- Evaluate pipeline connectivity versus cascade transportation economics.
- Develop commercial strategy for digestate, FOM/LFOM and other by-products.
- Lead vendor development, procurement strategy and competitive bidding.
- Maintain strict control over project CAPEX and cash flows.




- Monitor progress against budget and identify cost overruns before they occur.
- Build and manage the project team, consultants and specialist contractors.
- Establish project MIS, dashboards, risk registers and management reporting systems.
- Provide concise reports directly to the Promoter, clearly highlighting:
- current status,
- key risks,
- decisions required,
- financial implications,
- recommended action.
- Represent the Promoter in technical, commercial and regulatory meetings whenever required.
- Remain responsible for the project through commissioning, performance testing and final acceptance.

Candidate ProfileEducation

Bachelor’s degree in:

- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Process Engineering
- Energy Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering

or another relevant engineering discipline.

MBA, PMP or equivalent project-management certification would be an advantage but is not mandatory.

Experience Required

- 5–10 years of relevant experience in industrial or infrastructure project development and execution.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in:
- CBG / Bio-CNG
- biogas
- bioenergy
- ethanol
- waste-to-energy
- distilleries
- sugar plants
- oil & gas
- process industries
- chemical plants
- industrial EPC projects
- Candidate should preferably have personally executed at least two greenfield industrial projects from development through commissioning.
- Experience managing projects with CAPEX of approximately ₹50 crore or above is preferred.
- Owner/developer-side experience will be strongly preferred.
- EPC-side candidates may also apply if they have robust commercial and overall project-management exposure.

What We Do Not Want

This role may not suit candidates whose experience is limited primarily to:

- plant operations only
- government liaison only
- routine project coordination
- consulting without execution responsibility
- maintenance roles
- purely technical roles without commercial exposure

We are looking for someone who can own the entire project, not one individual workstream.

Reporting Structure

The Project Manager will report directly to the Promoter and will have authority to coordinate all consultants, contractors and project stakeholders.

Major commercial commitments and capital expenditure will remain subject to management approval.

The Project Manager will be expected to bring recommendations to the Promoter in a clear format:

Issue → Options → Commercial/Technical Impact → Recommendation → Approval Required

Preferred Candidate

We would particularly value candidates who have previously:

- taken a greenfield project from land/site-selection stage through commissioning;
- negotiated a major EPC contract;
- challenged and reduced project CAPEX;
- managed project delays and contractor disputes;
- coordinated lenders and government authorities;
- successfully secured industrial incentives or subsidies;
- managed multi-disciplinary engineering and construction teams.

Compensation

Competitive and commensurate with experience.

For an exceptional candidate with proven project-execution capability, compensation will not be a constraint.

Pay: Up to ₹1,200,000.00 per year
