1. Job Purpose

To supervise and manage electrical maintenance activities, ensure uninterrupted power supply and proper functioning of electrical systems, machinery and utilities while maintaining safety, statutory and operational requirements.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Electrical Maintenance

- Supervise preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment and machinery.
- Ensure proper functioning of motors, control panels, MCC, PCC, DBs, transformers, DG sets, compressors and other electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and coordinate timely breakdown rectification.
- Monitor electrical wiring, cables, switches, sensors, contactors, relays, VFDs and control systems.
- Ensure proper maintenance of plant lighting, power distribution and utility electrical systems.

B. Preventive Maintenance

- Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain electrical maintenance checklists, records and equipment history.
- Monitor recurring electrical failures and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure timely inspection and replacement of defective electrical components.

C. Team Supervision

- Supervise electricians, technicians and contract electrical workers.
- Allocate daily maintenance jobs and monitor completion.
- Ensure manpower availability according to plant requirements.
- Guide technicians in troubleshooting and safe working practices.

D. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and company EHS procedures.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and implementation of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures.
- Conduct regular inspection of electrical panels, cables, earthing and electrical installations.
- Ensure proper earthing and protection systems are maintained.
- Immediately report unsafe electrical conditions and take corrective action.
- Support statutory electrical inspections and audits.

Energy Management

- Monitor electrical consumption and identify opportunities for energy saving.
- Monitor power factor and ensure optimum electrical efficiency.
- Coordinate with utility/service providers for electrical-related issues.
- Monitor DG operation and power backup systems.

F. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain breakdown reports, preventive maintenance records and electrical equipment history.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly maintenance reports.
- Maintain records of spare parts and electrical consumables.
- Support maintenance planning and annual budgeting for electrical requirements.
- Coordinate with stores for timely availability of critical electrical spares.

G. Coordination

- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Utility, Quality and EHS departments.
- Support installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and machinery.
- Coordinate with external electrical contractors and service agencies.
- Ensure electrical work is completed within the planned timeline.

3. Required Skills

- Robust knowledge of industrial electrical systems and maintenance.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of motors, VFD, PLC panels, MCC/PCC and control circuits.
- Knowledge of electrical safety and LOTO procedures.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Good team-handling and manpower-management skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to work under pressure during electrical breakdowns.

- Machine/equipment electrical availability.
- Response and breakdown rectification time.
