About Thanal Counselling Centre

Thanal Counselling Centre is a mental health and psychological support organisation providing qualified counselling, psychological services, awareness programmes, training, and community-based mental health initiatives. We are looking for a compassionate, ethical, and professionally committed Psychologist to join our Kollam branch.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct individual counselling and psychotherapy sessions for clients presenting with emotional, behavioural, interpersonal, academic, career, and psychological concerns.
- Conduct intake interviews, detailed case histories, Mental Status Examinations (MSE), psychological observations, and case conceptualisation.
- Develop appropriate counselling and intervention plans based on individual client needs.
- Conduct follow-up sessions and systematically monitor client progress.
- Provide counselling support for concerns such as anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, emotional distress, self-esteem issues, academic concerns, adjustment difficulties, and related psychological concerns within professional competence.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and ethical client records, session notes, and clinical documentation.
- Follow professional ethical standards regarding confidentiality, informed consent, boundaries, referrals, and client safety.
- Identify cases requiring psychiatric, medical, specialised psychological, or emergency intervention and make appropriate referrals.
- Participate in case discussions, clinical supervision,



and professional development activities.
- Coordinate with other psychologists, administrative staff, and management when required for continuity of client care.
- Support mental health awareness programmes, workshops, seminars, school programmes, corporate programmes, and community outreach initiatives organised by Thanal.
- Provide appropriate guidance and supervision to psychology interns when assigned.
- Assist in developing psychoeducational materials and mental health awareness content when required.
- Maintain a professional, empathetic, non-judgmental, and client-centred approach at all times.

Qualification

- Master’s Degree in Psychology from a recognised university.
- Candidates specialising in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Applied Psychology, or related areas will be preferred.
- Relevant counselling or clinical experience will be an advantage.

Preferred Skills

- Strong counselling and therapeutic communication skills.
- Good understanding of psychological assessment, case history taking, MSE, case conceptualisation, and intervention planning.
- Ability to establish professional therapeutic rapport with clients.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality and professional ethics.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Fluency in Malayalam and English is preferred.
- Willingness to participate in training, supervision, outreach programmes, and organizational activities.

Salary: ₹12,000 – ₹25,000 per month, depending on experience, qualifications, clinical competency, and responsibilities.
