MECHANICAL PROJECT ENGINEER – DEVELOPMENT

1. Job Purpose

To handle mechanical product and project development activities from concept and design through prototype development, fabrication, testing, installation and final execution. The role requires strong mechanical engineering knowledge, project coordination skills and practical understanding of manufacturing processes.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Mechanical Product & Project Development

- Develop new mechanical products, equipment, assemblies and customized solutions as per customer/project requirements.
- Understand technical requirements, specifications, drawings and project scope.
- Prepare and review mechanical designs, layouts, assemblies and fabrication drawings.
- Coordinate with Design, Production, Purchase, Quality and Projects teams for smooth execution.
- Convert concepts into practical and manufacturable mechanical solutions.
- Support prototype development, testing and design modifications.

B. Project Execution

- Plan and monitor project activities from engineering development to final completion.
- Prepare project schedules, activity plans and execution timelines.
- Coordinate with production and fabrication teams for timely manufacturing.
- Monitor project progress against planned schedules, cost and quality requirements.
- Conduct regular project follow-ups and resolve technical issues during execution.
- Coordinate installation, commissioning and site-related engineering activities wherever required.
- Ensure projects are completed within agreed timelines and specifications.

C. Design & Engineering

- Prepare and modify 2D/3D mechanical drawings using AutoCAD / SolidWorks / similar CAD software.
- Prepare BOM, material specifications and technical documentation.
- Select suitable materials, components, fasteners, bearings, motors, actuators and other mechanical elements.
- Review drawings for dimensions, tolerances, manufacturability and assembly requirements.
- Carry out design improvements based on prototype testing,



production feedback and customer requirements.

D. Manufacturing & Machinery Knowledge

Candidate should have practical understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes, including:

- CNC machining
- VMC machining
- Laser cutting
- Lathe machining
- Bending
- Welding
- Pressing
- Drilling and fabrication
- Sheet-metal fabrication
- Assembly and finishing processes

Coordinate with production teams to ensure designs are suitable for available manufacturing capabilities.

E. Prototype Development & Testing

- Coordinate prototype manufacturing and assembly.
- Conduct functional and dimensional checks of developed products.
- Identify design or performance issues during testing.
- Implement engineering modifications and improvements.
- Prepare development reports and maintain records of design changes and test results.

F. Quality & Documentation

- Ensure engineering activities comply with approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with Quality Department for inspection and testing.
- Support preparation of inspection reports, technical documents and project records.
- Maintain revision control of drawings, BOMs and engineering documents.
- Identify and implement corrective actions for technical and quality issues.

G. Customer & Site Coordination

- Understand customer technical requirements and provide engineering support.
- Attend technical discussions with customers whenever required.
- Coordinate site measurements, installation and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues at customer sites.
- Provide technical support after installation where required.

3. Project Development Cycle

The engineer will be responsible for supporting the complete development cycle:





Customer Requirement → Concept Development → Engineering Design → Drawing & BOM → Prototype → Fabrication → Assembly → Testing → Modification → Installation/Commissioning → Final Project Handover

4. Required Technical Skills

- Robust knowledge of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals.
- Good understanding of machine design and fabrication.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T.;
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
- CAD knowledge – AutoCAD / SolidWorks / equivalent.
- Knowledge of BOM preparation and engineering documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
- Basic understanding of project planning and execution.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
- Knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and documentation.

5. Educational Qualification

B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

6. Experience

2–6 years of relevant experience in mechanical project engineering, product development, machine design, fabrication, equipment development or project execution.

Candidates with experience in industrial equipment, machinery, fabrication, sheet-metal products, customized engineering solutions or project-based manufacturing will be preferred.

9. Preferred Candidate Profile

A hands-on Mechanical Engineer who can work between design, development, manufacturing and project execution, with the ability to convert customer requirements into practical engineering solutions and take the project through development, fabrication, testing and final execution.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
