Stakeholder Engagement / Community Relations Professional

Location: Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu

We are looking for a Kodaikanal-based professional with strong local knowledge and networks to support stakeholder engagement and community relations activities in the Kodaikanal region.

The ideal candidate will have a valuable understanding of the local community, social environment and stakeholder landscape, and be comfortable engaging with a wide range of individuals and organisations. Candidates with backgrounds in journalism, public affairs, community engagement, social development, communications or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain an understanding of local stakeholder and community developments.
- Engage with relevant community groups, NGOs, local organisations and other stakeholders.
- Follow local meetings, consultations, public discussions, petitions, campaigns and community initiatives.
- Track relevant developments in local media and publicly available social and digital platforms.
- Identify emerging issues and areas of community concern.
- Provide regular updates on significant local developments and stakeholder activities.
- Identify new stakeholders, organisations or groups becoming active in relevant areas.
- Provide a balanced assessment of emerging issues, stakeholder perspectives and potential developments.




- Support the team with field-level information and local context when required.

Preferred Profile

- Based in Kodaikanal or having strong and established connections in Kodaikanal.
- Good understanding of the local community and social environment.
- Strong local network across community, NGO, social, political and media circles.
- Experience in journalism, public affairs, community engagement, social development, communications or a related field.
- Good written and spoken Tamil and English.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to gather information from multiple sources and present it clearly and objectively.
- Good judgement and ability to distinguish relevant information from unverified reports.
- Comfortable working independently and providing regular field-based updates.

Reporting

The engagement will involve providing a concise weekly update on relevant local developments and stakeholder activities, along with timely communication of significant developments that require attention.
