- An experienced SAP BTP and Basis Administrator to set up, configure, and manage the customer's BTP landscape and should have extensive work eperience in upgrading SAP S4/HANA systems from 1809 to higher versions. The candidate will be responsible for foundational platform administration — subaccounts, entitlements, security, connectivity, and service provisioning — enabling downstream teams to build and deploy CAP-based and AI Core-powered applications smoothly. Should be performing pre and post upgrade activities and executing tools such as SUM.

- Key Responsibilities
- BTP Landscape Setup
- Set up and structure BTP global account, directories, and subaccounts aligned with landscape strategy (dev/test/prod)
- Manage entitlements and quotas across services (Cloud Foundry runtime, HANA Cloud, AI Core, Application Autoscaler, Destination, Connectivity, etc.)
- Configure XSUAA, role collections, and role-based access control for applications and end users
- Set up and troubleshoot Cloud Connector for on-premise (ECC/S4HANA) connectivity, including handling network/proxy issues (e.g., DNS interception scenarios)
- Provision and configure HANA Cloud instances, including authorization and HDI container setup
- Configure Destination Service and Connectivity Service for backend and third-party integrations
- Set up CI/CD pipelines or CTMS for promoting applications across landscape stages, including MTA extension descriptor management
- Provision AI Core and related AI services (Orchestration Service, Document AI) and configure resource groups, scenarios, and deployments
- Manage multi-tenant SaaS setup where applicable (SaaS Registry, tenant-mode XSUAA, subscriber connectivity)
- S/4HANA Upgrade Support
- Plan and execute S/4HANA technical upgrades from 1809 to higher target releases (2022/2023 or latest) using SUM (Software Update Manager)
- Perform pre-upgrade readiness checks:



Maintenance Planner stack calculation, SUM/DMO prerequisite checks, add-on compatibility, and custom code impact analysis
- Execute upgrade phases via SUM (extraction, configuration, execution phases) including downtime optimization techniques (e.g., SUM with DMO, near-zero downtime options where applicable)
- Coordinate with Basis/technical teams on OS/DB migration considerations if part of the upgrade scope (e.g., DMO with system move)
- Manage post-upgrade activities: SPDD/SPAU adjustments, note corrections, regression testing coordination
- Use tools such as SAP Readiness Check, Custom Code Migration app, and Simplification Item Catalog to assess upgrade impact
- Document upgrade runbooks, rollback plans, and downtime schedules for customer sign-off
- Ensure upgraded S/4HANA environment is correctly integrated with BTP (Cloud Connector, OData services, communication arrangements) post-upgrade
- General
- Monitor platform health, usage, and cost; enforce governance and naming conventions across both BTP and on-premise/cloud ERP layers
- Collaborate with solution architects and development teams to translate application requirements into platform configuration
- Maintain documentation of landscape architecture, configurations, upgrade history, and access policies
- Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years hands-on experience administering SAP BTP (Cloud Foundry environment)
- 3+ years hands-on experience executing S/4HANA upgrades using SUM, with at least one upgrade from release 1809 or earlier to a higher release




- Strong knowledge of BTP cockpit: subaccounts, entitlements, quotas, service instances
- Experience with XSUAA, role collections, and OAuth-based security configuration
- Hands-on experience with Cloud Connector setup and troubleshooting
- Experience with HANA Cloud provisioning and authorization management
- Practical experience with SUM, DMO (Database Migration Option), Maintenance Planner, SAP Readiness Check, and Custom Code Migration tools
- Familiarity with SPDD/SPAU adjustment processes and post-upgrade testing coordination
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools for SAP (CTMS, Cloud Transport Management, or Jenkins/GitHub Actions for MTA deployments)
- Understanding of Destination and Connectivity services for hybrid integration scenarios
- Working knowledge of SAP AI Core, AI Launchpad, or Orchestration Service (preferred, not mandatory)
- Basic understanding of CAP (Cloud Application Programming) model and MTA deployment descriptors
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS setup on BTP (preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, security, service binding, and upgrade-related issues

- Exposure to SAP Document AI or other AI/ML services on BTP
- SAP BTP certification (Administrator or Extension Suite)

- SAP Basis / Technical Consultant background with broader upgrade/migration project experience (e.g., ECC to S/4HANA conversions, not just version-to-version upgrades)
- Experience supporting AI/agentic application rollouts
- Familiarity with ABAP-to-BTP integration scenarios (OData, SOAP/SOAMANAGER)

- Ability to work independently in a quick-paced, customer-facing environment
- Strong documentation and communication skills for handoff to development and upgrade teams
- Comfortable coordinating with customer's IT/security/Basis teams for access, downtime windows, and firewall requirements
