Role: Senior Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) Professional Services

Role Location: Remote (India-based)

Target Time Zones: GMT to GMT+3 (Supporting Sub-Saharan Africa Operations)

Role Summary

We are seeking our first Professional Services Cloud DBA. This is a high-visibility foundational role. As the dedicated database lead, you will bridge our core security infrastructure and client environments across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Because this is a 100% remote role, you will be expected to operate autonomously, taking full ownership of mission-critical production environments, performance optimization, and enterprise database security.

Key Responsibilities

- Enterprise Database Architecture & Management: Design, deploy, tune, and maintain high-availability MariaDB and PostgreSQL database clusters hosted across AWS, GCP, and Azure.

- Professional Services Delivery: Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on database architecture for client implementations, disaster recovery planning, and post-deployment technical support.

- Performance Tuning & Optimization: Conduct query optimization, database indexing, latency troubleshooting, and system health checks for enterprise clients.

- Cybersecurity & Compliance: Implement database hardening, role-based access control (RBAC), data encryption at rest and in transit, and auditing standards aligning with regional data privacy laws.

- Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Design automated backup/restore policies, point-in-time recovery strategies,



and failover architectures across multi-region cloud setups.

- Operations Support: Support operations across Sub-Saharan Africa time zones (GMT to GMT+3), ensuring client SLAs are consistently met.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Certifications

- Degree: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.

- Cloud Certifications (At least one active certification required):

- AWS Certified Database Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional)

- Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300)

- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Database Engineer / Cloud Architect

- Database Certifications: Official certifications in MariaDB or PostgreSQL administration (e.g., EnterpriseDB PostgreSQL Certification) are strongly preferred.

Work Experience

- 8+ years of total experience in Database Administration.

- 5+ years of hands-on, senior-level experience managing MariaDB and PostgreSQL in production environments.

- 3+ years of hands-on experience managing databases on Hyperscalers (AWS RDS/Aurora, GCP Cloud SQL, Azure Database Services).

- Strong hands-on exposure to database security (vault integration,



SSL/TLS configuration, access isolation).

- Deep understanding of high-availability setups (Patroni, Galera Cluster, Replication, Connection Poolers like PgBouncer).

Home Infrastructure Requirements (Non-negotiable)

- Dedicated Workspace: A private, quiet, ergonomics-focused home workspace suited for client interactions and video calls.

- High-Speed Internet: High-speed broadband connection (minimum 100 Mbps) with a secondary backup connection (fiber/4G/5G failover).
