Role Overview

The Business Analyst at Delta Airlines Tech Hub (Virgin Atlantic Group) conducts effective analysis to clarify, define or evaluate business problems, opportunities or requirements for change in a manner which supports the identification of solutions which deliver value to the VAA business within the chosen methodology.

The Business Analyst uses influencing, negotiation & communication skills to challenge business requirements where appropriate to ensure that solutions developed are viable within the operating environment and are focused on delivering the anticipated advantages. The BA also supports the effective management of change by providing clear insight into the business readiness to change and the impacts to people, processes and systems.

Experience in various methodologies such as Waterfall, Hybrid, Iterative, and Agile, as well as tooling (Visio, Dev Ops) is essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Ability to build relationships with people at all levels of the organization
- Support projects in defining solutions which deliver planned benefits, control scope and remain focused on delivery of benefits
- Be able to clearly identify requirements for change
- Clarify, define and evaluate business problems, opportunities and elicit requirements for change from business stakeholders
- Support assessment of commercial viability of proposed change
- Document & analyse requirements: 25%
- Ensure requirements (covering business, functional, non-functional) are documented, organised, prioritised
- Assures quality of outputs generated by other less experienced business analyst team members on any given investigation/project/programme
- Manage & communicate requirements:
- Manage & communicate requirements throughout the project's lifecycle
- Ensure requirements and solution scope remain aligned and focused on delivery of business benefits throughout the project
- Assess solutions and business impact: 5%
- Support selection of appropriate solutions (RFI / RFP) which deliver value
- Validate proposed technical solution designs and test approaches to ensure alignment with requirements and business needs
- Assess impact of proposed solution on the organisation (people, organisation, processes, metrics & systems etc) and support business readiness
- Analysis Strategy & Project Support: 20%
- Determine appropriate approach to conducting analysis for projects (or investigative studies) and agree approach with project stakeholders
- Support project delivery activities, and as required support project manager and project owner in readiness for change
- Develop knowledge: 5%
- Build knowledge of assigned business units and their associated functions, processes, systems & technologies as well as VA corporate strategies




- Build knowledge of business analysis, methods and techniques and contribute to analysis VA analysis practice led initiatives

What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

- Proven business analysis skills applied in work environment
- Experience of working within a structured project environment
- Knowledge of business analysis lifecycles and methodologies
- Experience of working to time, cost, quality objectives.
- Knowledge of agile ways of working (Safe, SCRUM etc)
- Experience of waterfall project delivery methodologies
- Ability to work independently where required & within a team
- Logical, analytical mind set & good attention to detail
- Problem solving and ability to understand and interpret complex business issues and processes
- Good analytical skills and understanding of a range of core analytical techniques & methods including:
- Impact Mapping
- Wireframes & Prototyping
- Business process modelling
- Data flow modelling
- Use-cases
- GAP / SWOT analysis
- Cost/benefit analysis

- Degree educated or equivalent level gained through professional experience
