We are looking for an experienced Environment & EHS Officer with strong hands-on experience in Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) operations, environmental compliance, industrial safety, and EHS management.

The candidate should be capable of independently handling day-to-day ETP activities, monitoring treatment performance, maintaining environmental records, ensuring statutory compliance, and implementing safety practices across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

1. Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Operations

- Responsible for day-to-day operation, monitoring, and effective functioning of the ETP.
- Ensure ETP operation is carried out as per approved process parameters and environmental standards.
- Monitor critical ETP parameters such as pH, COD, BOD, TSS, flow, MLSS, DO, sludge generation, and other relevant parameters.
- Monitor and control chemical dosing, including preparation and handling of treatment chemicals.
- Ensure proper functioning of pumps, blowers, agitators, dosing systems, clarifiers, filters, sludge-handling systems, and other ETP equipment.
- Coordinate with ETP operators and ensure proper shift-wise operation and housekeeping.
- Identify abnormalities in ETP performance and take timely corrective action.
- Maintain optimum biological treatment conditions and process parameters.
- Supervise sludge handling, dewatering, storage, and disposal as per applicable requirements.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of wastewater collection and treatment systems.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance of ETP equipment.
- Maintain daily ETP operating logs, chemical consumption records, flow records, analysis reports, and other required documentation.
- Coordinate with authorized laboratories/agencies for effluent sampling and environmental monitoring.
- Ensure treated effluent quality remains within applicable consent and regulatory limits.
- Take immediate corrective measures in case of deviation from prescribed parameters.

2. Environmental Compliance

- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, consent conditions, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain records and documentation related to environmental compliance.




- Support preparation and submission of periodic environmental returns, reports, and statutory documents.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections and visits.
- Ensure compliance related to hazardous waste, solid waste, wastewater, air emissions, and other environmental aspects.
- Monitor environmental performance and identify opportunities for reducing waste, water consumption, and environmental impact.
- Maintain proper records of hazardous waste generation, storage, transportation, and disposal.
- Ensure waste is handled and disposed of through authorized agencies as applicable.
- Support internal, external, customer, and regulatory environmental audits.

3. EHS & Safety Compliance

- Implement and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and safety standards throughout the plant.
- Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
- Carry out hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA) and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Ensure compliance with PPE requirements and safe working practices.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety training, induction training, and EHS awareness programs.
- Monitor compliance with work permits such as Hot Work, Height Work, Confined Space, Electrical Work, Excavation, and other applicable permits.
- Ensure proper implementation of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and isolation procedures.
- Monitor chemical handling and storage practices and ensure availability of appropriate SDS/MSDS.
- Ensure proper safety practices during ETP chemical handling, dosing, sludge handling, and maintenance activities.
- Conduct emergency preparedness activities and coordinate mock drills for fire, chemical leakage, spills, and other emergencies.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, unsafe incidents,



and environmental incidents and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
- Monitor fire and emergency safety systems and coordinate with relevant departments for periodic inspections.
- Ensure safe access, housekeeping, illumination, ventilation, and signage in ETP and other plant areas.
- Promote a strong safety culture and environmental awareness among employees and contract workers.

4. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain EHS and environmental registers, checklists, inspection reports, and statutory records.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly ETP/EHS performance reports.
- Maintain records of ETP analysis, chemical consumption, sludge generation, waste disposal, environmental monitoring, and compliance activities.
- Track corrective and preventive actions arising from inspections, audits, and incidents.
- Prepare management reports highlighting ETP performance, environmental compliance, safety observations, incidents, and improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile

- M.Sc. in Environmental Science preferred/required.
- Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety required.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in Environment/EHS, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong hands-on experience in ETP operation and wastewater treatment processes.
- Good knowledge of environmental compliance and industrial safety requirements.
- Practical knowledge of chemical handling, hazardous waste management, and environmental monitoring.
- Good understanding of HIRA, PTW, LOTO, emergency preparedness, incident investigation, and safety audits.
- Ability to lead ETP operators and coordinate with production, maintenance, laboratory, and other departments.
- Strong communication, documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Candidate should be capable of independently handling ETP and EHS responsibilities.
