Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Shift Operations

Plan and execute day-to-day production activities as per the production plan and shift requirements.

Ensure achievement of daily/shift-wise production targets while maintaining required quality standards.

Monitor production processes, equipment performance, material consumption, and production output.

Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, materials, and other resources.

Monitor production losses, downtime, rejection, rework, and process deviations.

Take immediate corrective action for production-related issues and escalate critical matters to the Production Manager/Plant Head.

Ensure smooth handover between shifts with proper communication of production status, pending activities, breakdowns, quality issues, and other critical information.

Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) on the shop floor.

Production Planning & Execution

Coordinate with the Planning/Production Planning team to understand daily, weekly, and monthly production requirements.

Translate production plans into shift-wise execution plans.

Ensure availability of required raw materials, consumables, manpower, machines, and tools before commencement of production.

Monitor production against planned targets and identify deviations.

Coordinate with planning, stores, purchase, and other departments to avoid material shortages and production interruptions.

Maintain production schedules and ensure timely completion of priority orders.

Manpower Management

Allocate manpower across machines/production lines according to production requirements and employee skill levels.

Monitor attendance, shift deployment, productivity, and utilization of operators/workmen.

Guide, train, and supervise operators and technicians on production processes and SOPs.

Ensure adequate manpower availability during the shift and manage absenteeism effectively.

Maintain discipline and ensure compliance with company policies and shift timings.

Quality Control





Ensure production is carried out in accordance with defined quality standards and specifications.

Coordinate with the Quality team for inspection, process checks, and resolution of quality issues.

Monitor rejection, rework, customer complaints, and process deviations.

Identify root causes of recurring quality problems and implement corrective/preventive actions.

Ensure proper documentation and traceability of production batches/materials wherever applicable.
Maintenance Coordination

Coordinate with the Maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.

Monitor machine/equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime.

Ensure timely reporting of equipment abnormalities and maintenance requirements.

Support preventive maintenance activities by coordinating machine availability with the production plan.

Track breakdown-related losses and support initiatives to improve machine availability.

Safety & EHS

Ensure strict adherence to plant safety rules, SOPs, PPE requirements, and EHS guidelines.

Conduct/participate in shift-level safety briefings and toolbox talks.

Identify unsafe conditions and unsafe practices on the shop floor and take corrective action.

Ensure proper handling and storage of raw materials, finished goods, tools, and equipment.

Immediately report accidents, near misses, and unsafe incidents to the concerned authority.

Promote a strong safety culture within the production team.

Process Improvement & Productivity

Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce downtime, minimize wastage, and optimize manpower.

Support initiatives related to Lean Manufacturing,



5S, Kaizen, OEE improvement, TPM, and continuous improvement.

Analyze production losses and identify major causes of inefficiency.

Participate in root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

Drive initiatives for reduction in rejection, rework, material wastage, and machine downtime.

7. Production MIS & Documentation

Prepare and maintain shift-wise production reports.

Record production quantity, downtime, rejection, rework, material consumption, manpower utilization, and other relevant parameters.

Maintain shift logbooks and ensure proper documentation of production activities.

Prepare daily production updates and highlight deviations against planned targets.

Ensure accurate and timely reporting to the Production Manager/Plant Head.

Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, Lean, TPM/OEE will be an advantage

Basic knowledge of MS Excel, ERP/SAP or other production management systems preferred

Qualification & Experience:

B.Tech / B.E / Diploma . in Mechanical, Production, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline.

Minimum 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in production/shop-floor operations.

Experience in shift handling and production planning/execution is preferred.

Candidates with experience in manufacturing/process industries and hands-on exposure to production operations will be preferred.

Should have independently handled production activities/manpower for an assigned shift.
