Role: Chief Accountant

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site leadership role based at the Head Office in Alipore, Kolkata.
The Accounts Head will own end-to-end financial operations — from balance sheet finalisation to full accountability for the accounts team's performance and output.

Key Responsibilities

- Leading balance sheet finalisation and ensuring accuracy of all financial records
- Building, managing, and mentoring the accounts team — setting processes, standards, reviewing work, and driving accountability
- Overseeing daily reconciliation of store sales and collections across retail locations
- Reviewing and approving Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS) and ledger reconciliations
- Managing accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger integrity
- Preparing and presenting financial statements and MIS reports to management
- Driving budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Ensuring full compliance with tax and regulatory requirements
- Strengthening internal controls and supporting sound financial decision-making across the organisation

Qualifications

- Strong expertise in financial accounting, reconciliations, and general ledger management
- Proven experience in BRS,



ledger reconciliation, and retail/store accounting
- Knowledge of taxation, statutory compliance, and financial regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel
- Robust analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and ability to manage and guide a team
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CA / Inter CA / equivalent qualification preferred
- Prior experience in a Senior Accountant or similar role, preferably in retail or multi-location businesses
