About the Role: We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Engineer to manage procurement activities for our machinery manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate should have good technical understanding of engineering components, strong vendor management skills, and the ability to ensure timely procurement at competitive prices.

Key Responsibilities

- Handle end-to-end procurement of engineering components, machine parts, raw materials, bought-out items, consumables, and MRO items.
- Study purchase requisitions, BOMs, drawings, and technical specifications to understand procurement requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Float RFQs, obtain quotations, prepare comparative statements, and negotiate price, quality, delivery, and payment terms.
- Prepare and release Purchase Orders as per approved requirements.
- Coordinate with Design, Production, Quality, Stores, and Accounts departments for smooth procurement.
- Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials as per production schedules.
- Monitor pending purchase orders and maintain proper procurement records.
- Coordinate with Quality/Inspection teams for incoming material inspection and resolve quality-related issues with suppliers.
- Develop alternate sources for critical and regularly purchased components.




- Maintain vendor performance records and support vendor evaluation activities.
- Control procurement costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Ensure procurement is carried out as per company policies and approved specifications.
- Handle commercial discussions and resolve discrepancies related to price, quantity, quality, and delivery.
- Maintain MIS and periodic reports related to purchases, pending orders, vendor performance, and cost savings.
- Required SkillsStrong knowledge of purchase and procurement processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and machining/fabrication components.
- Experience in procurement of items such as:
- CNC/machined components
- Fabricated parts
- Bearings, gears, shafts, fasteners
- Electrical and pneumatic components
- Hydraulic components
- Motors, gearboxes, and other bought-out items
- Steel and other engineering raw materials
- Strong vendor development and negotiation skills.
- Good knowledge of commercial terms and purchase documentation.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/MRP systems.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under production deadlines and manage multiple procurement requirements.

QualificationB.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in Purchase/Procurement, preferably in a machinery manufacturing, engineering, capital equipment, or industrial manufacturing company.
