Job Summary

The Section Head – Electrical will be responsible for leading all electrical engineering, project execution, commissioning, and maintenance activities for the Copper Electrolytic Refinery. The role requires

extensive hands-on experience in refinery electrical systems including rectifier transformers,

high-current rectifier systems, DC distribution networks, electrolytic tank house operations, refinery

utility electrical systems, and continuous process operations.

The incumbent will ensure reliable and secure operation of all refinery electrical assets while driving

project execution, equipment reliability, statutory compliance, energy efficiency, and operational

excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Project Engineering & Execution

Lead electrical engineering activities for Greenfield and Brownfield Copper Refinery projects.

Review and approve electrical drawings, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), cable schedules, layouts,

equipment specifications, and technical documents.

Coordinate electrical design reviews for electrolytic tank houses, rectifier systems, substations,

and refinery utility facilities.

Interface with technology licensors, EPC contractors, consultants, OEMs, and internal

stakeholders during project execution.

Ensure timely completion of engineering, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning,

and project handover activities.

Supervise installation and commissioning of:

Rectifier transformers

High-current rectifier systems

DC busbar systems

HT/LT substations

MCCs & PCCs

Transformers

Switchgear

UPS systems

DG systems

Refinery utility electrical systems

Coordinate interdisciplinary activities with Process, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation, and

Automation teams.

Review contractor engineering documents, technical submittals,



inspection reports,

commissioning procedures, and quality records.

Support FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, energization, performance guarantee tests, and system

commissioning.

Identify project risks, resolve technical issues, and ensure timely completion of project

milestones.

Participate in vendor evaluation, technical procurement, budgeting, planning, and cost control

activities.

Electrical Maintenance & Reliability

Lead electrical maintenance activities for all Copper Refinery process equipment.

Ensure reliable operation of electrical systems associated with:

Electrolytic cells

Cathode stripping machines

Anode preparation machines

Copper handling systems

Electrolyte circulation pumps

Acid mist extraction systems

Process ventilation systems

Refinery utility equipment

Plan and execute preventive, predictive, breakdown, shutdown, and annual maintenance

programs.

Monitor equipment performance and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to improve reliability

and reduce downtime.

Maintain HT/LT distribution systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, UPS

systems, emergency power systems, and associated electrical infrastructure.

Lead troubleshooting and performance optimization of refinery electrical systems.

Manage critical spare parts, maintenance planning, contractor performance, and shutdown

execution.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, energy efficiency,

and power quality improvement.

Ensure uninterrupted power supply to electrolysis operations for maximum cathode production.

Safety, Compliance & Leadership

Ensure full compliance with IEC, IS, IEEE,



and statutory electrical standards.

Implement and enforce electrical safety procedures, Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout-Tagout

(LOTO), and statutory inspection requirements.

Ensure safe operation of electrical systems in corrosive refinery environments.

Monitor project quality, safety, timelines, and compliance with company standards.

Lead, mentor, and develop the electrical engineering and maintenance team.

Coordinate effectively with Production, Mechanical, Process, Instrumentation, and Operations

teams to maximize refinery availability and operational efficiency.

Mandatory Candidate Requirements

B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.

Minimum 12 years of hands-on experience in a Copper Electrolytic Refinery or Aluminium

Electrolytic Refinery.

Proven expertise in:

Rectifier transformers

High-current rectifier systems

DC distribution systems

Electrolytic tank house operations

Cathode stripping machines

Anode preparation systems

Refinery utility electrical systems

Strong experience in refinery project execution, commissioning, shutdown management,

maintenance planning, and continuous process operations.

Excellent knowledge of IEC, IS, IEEE standards, electrical safety regulations, PTW, and LOTO

systems.

Demonstrated leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and EPC

interfaces.
