Experience: 5–10 years in fabrication, machine-tool, sheet-metal, or industrial manufacturing

About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Floor Manager to take complete responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of our manufacturing floor.

The ideal candidate must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, coordinate workers and production activities, handle customer-related technical queries, and ensure that jobs are manufactured correctly, on time, and according to specifications.

This is a hands-on shop-floor role requiring strong technical understanding and the ability to manage people and production simultaneously.

- Key Responsibilities1. Shop-Floor ManagementManage the day-to-day activities on the manufacturing floor.
- Allocate jobs and manpower based on production priorities.
- Monitor fabrication, assembly, welding, grinding, finishing and related activities.
- Ensure production schedules and delivery commitments are met.
- Maintain discipline, productivity and proper workflow on the shop floor.
- Identify bottlenecks and take corrective action.

2. Engineering Drawing – Critical RequirementRead and understand engineering/production drawings independently.

- Interpret dimensions, tolerances, materials, sections and fabrication details.
- Explain drawings and job requirements clearly to fabricators and operators.
- Identify discrepancies or practical manufacturing issues before production.
- Ensure the finished product matches the approved drawing and specifications.
- Coordinate with the design team whenever drawing clarification is required.

Customer & Technical QueriesUnderstand customer requirements and translate them into clear production instructions.

- Handle day-to-day technical queries from customers.
- Clarify dimensions, materials, modifications and fabrication requirements.
- Coordinate with the design team and management to resolve customer requirements.
- Follow up on pending technical information required to start or complete production.

4. Quality ControlInspect work at various stages of production.

- Ensure dimensions, fabrication quality and finish meet required specifications.
- Identify defects and arrange corrective action.
- Reduce rework, material wastage and production errors.
- Ensure final products are ready for dispatch as per customer requirements.

5. Production CoordinationCoordinate with the design, purchase, stores and management teams.

- Ensure required materials are available before production starts.
- Track job progress from drawing approval through fabrication and dispatch.
- Maintain production status and communicate delays immediately.
- Ensure urgent and priority orders are completed on schedule.

6. Team ManagementSupervise fabricators, welders, helpers and other shop-floor workers.

- Assign responsibilities and monitor individual performance.
- Train workers on drawings, processes and quality expectations.
- Ensure secure working practices are followed.




- Maintain a productive and professional shop-floor environment.

Candidate RequirementsEssential:

- Strong ability to read and understand engineering/fabrication drawings.
- Good practical knowledge of fabrication and sheet-metal work.
- Experience managing a manufacturing shop floor.
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers and workers.
- Ability to identify production and drawing-related problems.
- Strong follow-up and coordination skills.
- Practical, hands-on approach to solving manufacturing problems.

Preferred:

- Experience in machine-tool, industrial equipment, sheet-metal or fabrication manufacturing.
- Knowledge of telescopic covers, bellows, wiper systems, rollway covers, apron covers or similar industrial products.
- Basic understanding of AutoCAD drawings.
- Ability to communicate in Kannada, English and Hindi.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)On-time completion of production orders.
- Reduction in production errors and rework.
- Accuracy of finished products against drawings.
- Shop-floor productivity.
- Effective manpower utilisation.
- Customer query response and resolution time.
- Reduction in material wastage.

Who We Are Looking ForWe need someone who is not just a supervisor.

The person should be capable of walking onto the shop floor, looking at a drawing, understanding how the component needs to be manufactured, explaining it to the team, identifying problems, speaking to the customer when required, and ensuring the job is completed correctly.

Drawing-reading ability and practical shop-floor management are the two most important requirements for this position.
