As Civil / Structural Engineer supporting the Client from Utilities Domain, you will deliver civil and structural engineering designs for substations and network-related infrastructure — including access roads, drainage systems, foundations, cable pits, gantries and fire walls — ensuring all work aligns with Client safety culture, environmental commitments and regulatory obligations.

This is a dual-discipline role spanning both civil and structural design; depending on team structure, candidates may specialise in one discipline with working knowledge of the other, or cover both across smaller-scale works.

Key ResponsibilitiesCivil

- Deliver civil engineering designs for substations, access roads, drainage systems and other network-related infrastructure.
- Prepare earthworks, stormwater detention and drainage designs, and analyse vehicle turn paths and pavement design for substation and depot sites.
- Support project managers in the planning and execution of capital and maintenance projects across the network.

Structural

- Prepare structural designs for network assets including foundations, cable pits, gantries, fire walls and substation structures.
- Ensure engineering designs are accurately translated into drawings and 3D models.
- Coordinate with secondary systems, mains design and other internal and external consultants to resolve design interfaces.

Common to Both Disciplines

- Prepare engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, design reports and cost estimates.
- Conduct site inspections, condition assessments and construction support activities to ensure compliance with standards, safety requirements and project objectives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders,



external consultants, contractors and regulatory bodies (including local councils) to ensure high-quality project outcomes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, engineering standards and asset management strategies.

About YouEssential Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 4–10 years of relevant civil and/or structural engineering experience, ideally within utilities, infrastructure or construction.
- Willingness to travel to project sites.

Desirable

- Working knowledge of Australian Standards, local council requirements and industry practices related to civil and/or structural design for electrical infrastructure.
- Experience preparing civil designs and reports covering earthworks, stormwater/drainage, vehicle turn-path analysis and pavement design.
- Experience preparing structural designs and reports for substation foundations, gantries, cable pits and fire walls.
- Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Space Gass, Revit, Navisworks or equivalent structural tool kits.
