Detailed job description:

Job Title: Senior SQL Production DBA

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL Server database production administration, experience with cloud-based platforms such as AWS RDS or similar, and preferably PostgreSQL (EDB PostgreSQL). This role requires hands-on expertise in managing critical production systems, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and ensuring high availability in a 24/7 production workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and maintain SQL Server preferably SQL 2019 and SQL 2022 and PostgreSQL (preferably EDB) databases in production and development environments.
• Support cloud database services, especially AWS RDS; experience with Azure or GCP also works.
• Provide 24x7 production support in a rotational shift environment, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve critical database issues quickly and effectively, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and application support teams to provide database solutions.
• Perform regular health checks, capacity planning, performance tuning, patching, and security management.
• Develop and maintain database documentation, policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Mentor junior DBAs and assist the team with technical guidance and troubleshooting.




• Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation.
• Terraform build experience is a plus
• Implement and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases in a multi-tiered environment.
• Troubleshoot SQL DB slowness, Disk/Memory/CPU utilization and suggest resolutions.
• Troubleshoot query performance issues and provide recommendations

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- 8+ years of experience as a Production SQL Server DBA working in SQL 2016/2017/2019/2022.
• Strong working knowledge of AWS RDS and cloud-native database management.
• Experience with PostgreSQL 14 and above, preferably with EDB PostgreSQL (EnterpriseDB).
• Proven ability to manage and resolve critical incidents in a high-pressure environment.
• Solid understanding of high availability, replication, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience with monitoring tools, scripting (PowerShell, Bash), and automation.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a global team (India and USA).
• Experience with ServiceNow ticket handling, JIRA.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Certifications in AWS, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience in multi-cloud or hybrid environments.
• Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipeline integration.
• Familiarity with Virtualization environment
