Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automation Test Engineer to join our energetic and collaborative software development team. This role is crucial to supporting the delivery of high-quality software across our product portfolio in the UK Insurance sector, which includes Motor, Anti-Fraud, Property and Personal Injury solutions.
Working within an Agile Scrum environment, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and executing automated tests to ensure our software products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability.
This role is open to candidates with the right to work in the UK, as well as those who require visa sponsorship. We welcome applications from individuals with a degree or equivalent qualification, or those with significant relevant experience in software testing and automation.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Cypress.io, following BDD practices with Cucumber.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and business analysts to review requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Implement, execute, and document system, regression, and integration tests across multiple environments.
• Perform API testing using tools such as Postman or Insomnia to validate REST API integrations.
• Write and maintain test cases in QMetry, ensuring alignment with project requirements and test strategy.
• Accurately identify, log, and track defects using JIRA, and support development teams in reproducing and diagnosing issues.
• Define appropriate test data, develop quality benchmarks, and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes.
• Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement,



sprint reviews and retrospectives, contributing to the team's velocity and shared objectives.
• Attend our quarterly PI planning sessions and contribute effectively to the plan for your squad
• Proactively track time and progress to support sprint metrics and management reporting.
• Ensure release readiness by reviewing release notes, scheduling test activities, and validating release functionality.
Essential Skills and Experience
• Strong experience in software testing within an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Proven ability to write and execute automated test scripts using Cypress.io or equivalent and BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
• Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman or Insomnia.
• Experience writing and managing test cases using tools like QMetry.
• Competence in using JIRA to manage tasks, defects, and sprint progress.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and collaborate effectively.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
• Technical knowledge of JavaScript, SQL, or experience working in a Java-based environment.
• Familiarity with the UK Insurance industry, particularly Motor Claims, Anti-Fraud, or Property & Personal Injury domains.
• Experience with load testing tools such as JMeter or K6.
• Experience in using AI tools to drive/improve testing such as CoPilot.
• Industry-recognised testing certifications such as ISTQB or ISEB.
• Previous experience working with test strategies in regulated or high-compliance industries.
