Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Scrum Master to join our growing Technology team, supporting two of our General Insurance development squads based in Hyderabad. You will work across a combination of new development, maintenance, and support - spanning the full product lifecycle from concept and system design through to live deployment in the cloud.
The two squads you will support are drawn from:
• COA – Claims Outcome Adviser
• IVI – Intelligent Vehicle Inspection
• AIS – Automated Insurance Solutions
• Property UK

As Scrum Master, your primary role is to protect your squads and keep them focused. You will facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, coach teams on Scrum values and practices, and work closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to keep backlogs healthy and delivery on track. These squads are building innovative SaaS products for the insurance industry — used by insurers, suppliers, and regulators across the UK.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
Ceremony Facilitation & Team Focus
• Plan, facilitate, and follow up on all Scrum ceremonies for your squads — daily stand - ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions.
• Protect the team from outside distractions and scope creep during sprints, maintaining a focused and productive working environment.
• Ensure retrospectives are meaningful and that agreed actions are tracked and followed through, driving genuine continuous improvement.
• Adapt facilitation style to the needs of each squad — recognising that COA, IVI, AIS, and Property UK each have distinct delivery contexts and stakeholder landscapes.

Backlog Management & Release Planning
• Work closely with Product Owners to ensure the backlog is well - maintained, prioritised, and that stories are fully refined and ready for development before sprint commitment.
• Support release planning and sprint scheduling, helping Product Owners and stakeholders understand team capacity and realistic delivery timelines.




• Flag risks and dependencies early, facilitating cross - squad or cross - team coordination where needed — particularly where IVI, COA, AIS, or Property UK work intersects.
• Maintain accurate and up - to - date work boards in Azure DevOps / JIRA, ensuring cards move through the process efficiently and blockers are visible and actioned.

Impediment Removal & Continuous Improvement
• Proactively identify and remove impediments — whether technical, organisational, or interpersonal — that slow team progress or threaten sprint goals.
• Track and report key team metrics including velocity, focus factor, and sprint burndown, using data to identify trends and support informed delivery decisions.
• Coordinate with other Scrum Masters across the engineering function when cross - squad dependencies or shared platform needs arise.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Agile practices across the wider team, sharing learnings and good practice between squads.

Agile Coaching & Advocacy
• Coach squad members, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Agile principles, Scrum theory, and the value of iterative delivery.
• Champion a culture of transparency, inspection, and adaptation — helping the teams embrace the spirit of Agile, not just the mechanics.
• Support the onboarding of new team members into Agile ways of working, ensuring they understand ceremonies, roles, and expectations from day one.
• Act as a visible advocate for Agile best practices within the broader Hyderabad engineering community.

Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration
• Maintain clear, timely communication with Product Owners, the Tech Lead, and other stakeholders regarding squad progress, risks,



and blockers.
• Work collaboratively with product management to align on development priorities, card readiness, and release timelines across both squads.
• Produce or contribute to sprint and delivery reporting as required, supporting visibility for UK - based counterparts and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements
• Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I, or equivalent) and/or 3+ years of hands - on Scrum Master experience in a software delivery environment.
• Solid knowledge of Agile methodology and frameworks, including Scrum and Kanban, with a solid understanding of iterative and incremental development.
• Demonstrable experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and managing backlogs in a commercial product development setting.
• Confident communicator and facilitator, able to engage effectively with developers, product managers, and senior stakeholders alike.
• Robust organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple teams simultaneously.
• Proven ability to identify and resolve impediments, manage conflict constructively, and keep teams on track under pressure.
• Proficient in Agile tooling, particularly Azure DevOps and/or JIRA and Confluence; comfortable with MS Office for reporting and documentation.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes without close supervision.

Desirable
• Experience working across multiple squads simultaneously, ideally within a scaled Agile environment.
• Familiarity with the general insurance or financial services industry — knowledge of claims, vehicle inspection, or property insurance workflows is a distinct advantage.
• Experience working with distributed or offshore development teams, particularly across UK and India time zones.
• Additional Agile certifications (SAFe, PSM II, A - CSM) are advantageous.
• Familiarity with SaaS product development and cloud - hosted delivery environments.
