An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and certifying aircraft to ensure they are safe, airworthy, and compliant with aviation regulations. The role involves carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft systems, engines, avionics, electrical components, hydraulic systems, landing gear, and structural components while adhering to the standards established by aviation authorities.
Key Responsibilities
Aircraft Inspection & Maintenance
Perform routine, preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled aircraft maintenance.
Conduct daily, transit, weekly, A-check, B-check, C-check, and heavy maintenance inspections.
Inspect aircraft structures, fuselage, wings, landing gear, flight controls, and engines.
Diagnose and rectify aircraft defects using approved maintenance procedures.
Replace, repair, and overhaul defective aircraft components.
Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed according to the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM).
Troubleshooting & Repairs
Identify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and avionics faults.
Use specialized diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
Repair aircraft systems while maintaining manufacturer specifications.
Coordinate with engineering teams for complex technical issues.
Perform functional tests after repairs to verify serviceability.
Engine & Component Maintenance
Inspect aircraft engines for wear, leaks, corrosion, and damage.
Perform engine servicing, oil changes, filter replacement, and component inspections.
Maintain propellers, Auxiliary Power Units (APU), and fuel systems.
Monitor engine performance and recommend corrective actions.
Avionics & Electrical Systems
Inspect communication and navigation systems.
Maintain radar, autopilot, cockpit instrumentation, and electrical wiring.
Test aircraft electronic systems for operational reliability.
Ensure compliance with avionics maintenance procedures.
Documentation & Compliance
Complete maintenance logs, inspection reports, and defect records.




Maintain aircraft technical documentation accurately.
Ensure compliance with aviation regulatory authorities.
Certify aircraft for return to service after maintenance (where appropriately licensed).
Follow company maintenance policies and quality assurance procedures.
Safety & Quality Assurance
Follow all aviation safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
Maintain clean and organized work areas.
Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Report safety hazards and technical discrepancies immediately.
Participate in safety audits and quality inspections.
Team Coordination
Work closely with pilots, technicians, quality inspectors, and operations staff.
Coordinate maintenance schedules with flight operations.
Assist junior technicians with technical guidance and training.
Participate in emergency aircraft recovery and AOG (Aircraft on Ground) support.
Required Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
DGCA-approved AME qualification or equivalent aviation authority certification is preferred.
Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (where applicable).
Type rating on specific aircraft is an advantage.
Relevant experience in aircraft maintenance is preferred.

Salary Range (India)
Fresher: ₹ - ₹6 LPA
2-5 Years: ₹6 - ₹10 LPA
