We are looking for a Treasury & Bank Accountant to manage daily cash, bank and payment-gateway reconciliation for our B2B travel business. This role sits in our Finance team in Mumbai and makes sure that the money we receive matches the bookings behind it — across multiple currencies, payment channels and partners.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Bank & Payment Gateway Reconciliation
- Reconcile daily bank statements against the booking system and general ledger.
- Match card and payment-gateway settlements (e.g., Amex, Tabby) with booking confirmations.
- Monitor and reconcile high-volume receipts from direct customers, B2B travel agents and local tour operators.
Airline & Partner Settlements
- Reconcile BSP (IATA Billing and Settlement Plan) statements for airline ticketing.
- Verify that tour operator commissions, supplier payouts and OTA partner receipts match actual bank movements.
Discrepancy Resolution & Fraud Monitoring
- Identify, investigate and resolve variances between booking values and actual cash received.
- Manage customer chargebacks, payment disputes and refund requests.
- Monitor accounts for fraudulent bookings and suspicious transaction patterns.
Cash Position & Multi-Currency Banking
- Maintain multi-currency bank accounts and record realised FX gains and losses on conversions.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly cash position reports for management.
- Support month-end closing and audit preparation.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
- 2–4 years of accounting experience, including at least 1 year in the travel, tours or hospitality industry.
- Hands-on experience with bank and payment-gateway reconciliation.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, Traacs, NetSuite, SAP).
- Experience with travel back-office or GDS platforms (QTech, Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport) is a strong advantage.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS).
- Strong understanding of multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange.
- Exceptional attention to detail with high-volume, low-margin transactions.
- Analytical mindset — able to trace broken transaction trails across multiple systems.
Key: This is a full-time onsite position in Mumbai, India. Candidates without accounting experience in travel, tours or hospitality may not be suitable for this role.
Work Location: In person
