ZASTRAA IS HIRING — FASHION MERCHANDISER / DESIGNER

We are setting up a new manufacturing & product development facility in Gurgaon and are looking for a Fashion Merchandiser / Designer to join our team and take ownership of new product development, sampling, fitting and production coordination.

This is not a conventional merchandising role.

We are looking for someone with a strong fashion eye + understanding of garment construction + practical knowledge of sampling and production.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Study fashion trends, reference garments and market products to develop new Zastraa styles
- Convert references and design ideas into production-ready garments
- Work on silhouette, fit, proportions, detailing and overall garment aesthetics
- Coordinate the complete sampling process — from first sample to final approved sample
- Conduct fittings and identify corrections required in fit, pattern, construction and proportions
- Work closely with pattern masters, sample tailors and production teams
- Develop and modify patterns based on design and fitting requirements
- Select and suggest suitable fabrics, trims, construction techniques and finishing
- Follow up on samples and ensure corrections are implemented properly
- Coordinate the transition from sample → approved style → production
- Ensure the approved garment can be commercially produced at scale
- Maintain accurate records of samples, measurements, corrections and approvals
- Keep track of new styles, developments and sampling timelines
- Maintain high standards of fit, finishing and garment quality

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- 2–5+ years of experience in fashion merchandising, product development, sampling or garment design
- Experience in women's western wear / contemporary fashion will be preferred
- Strong understanding of fit, proportions, silhouettes and garment construction
- Good knowledge of patterns, fabrics,



stitching and garment finishing
- Someone who can look at a reference garment and understand how it can be recreated, modified and improved
- Strong eye for fashion, detailing and commercial appeal
- Comfortable working with pattern masters, tailors and production teams
- Able to independently identify fitting problems and communicate corrections clearly
- Strong attention to detail
- Good follow-up and coordination skills
- Comfortable working in a rapid-paced fashion environment with frequent new product development
- Someone who takes ownership rather than waiting for instructions for every step

MOST IMPORTANT

We are looking for someone who can SEE THE GARMENT.

You should be able to look at a reference and say:

The shoulder needs to come down, the body needs more ease, this proportion isn't right, the sleeve needs to be changed, this fabric won't give the right fall, or this construction won't work in production.

You should have both:

THE FASHION EYE TO JUDGE THE GARMENT

THE TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be working closely with our design, sampling and manufacturing teams and will play an important role in building Zastraa's upcoming product range.

This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely enjoys developing garments and seeing an idea move from reference → sample → final product → production.

EXPERIENCE

2–5+ years preferred

Relevant experience in Fashion Merchandising / Product Development / Sampling / Garment Design will be considered.

SALARY

₹18,000 – ₹31,000 per month

Salary will depend on experience and skill level.
