Role Overview

We are looking for a fabrication fitter to fit up sheet metal and structural parts for our machines. The role covers marking, cutting, fit-up, jigging and tacking of screen bodies, chutes, hoppers, guards, frames and conveyor structures, ready for welding.

Key Responsibilities

- Drawing reading: Work from fabrication drawings, cutting lists and weld maps. Confirm plate thickness, grade and revision before starting.
- Marking and cutting: Mark out plates, sheets, angles and channels. Cut by shear, plasma, gas and bandsaw to drawing dimensions and tolerances.
- Forming support: Assist on press brake and rolling. Check bend angles, radii and developed lengths against drawing.
- Fit-up: Assemble cut and formed parts into sub-assemblies. Set gaps, squareness, level, flatness and alignment. Use jigs, fixtures, clamps and dogs.
- Tacking: Tack weld fit-ups to hold position for the welder. Basic MIG/ARC tacking skill required.
- Jigs and fixtures: Set up and maintain fabrication jigs. Suggest fixtures where repeat jobs justify them.
- Distortion control:



Follow tack sequence and bracing practice to control distortion. Straighten and rectify after welding where needed.
- Bench work: Drilling, grinding, filing, chamfering and edge preparation. Safe use of hand, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
- Inspection: Check dimensions with tape, square, level, straight edge and vernier before release to welding. Record on job cards and checklists.
- Records and safety: Maintain job cards and traceability. Follow PPE discipline, hot-work safety, lifting and slinging practice, and 5S.

What We Are Looking For

- ITI Fitter or ITI Sheet Metal Worker (NCVT/SCVT). Diploma in Mechanical with fabrication experience also considered.
- 2–5 years in structural or sheet metal fabrication at an engineering or heavy equipment manufacturer. Solid candidates with more experience will be considered at a higher grade.
- Able to read a fabrication drawing and lay out a job from it without hand-holding.
- Confident with marking and measuring tools — tape, square, level, straight edge, vernier, bevel protractor.
- Basic tack welding ability (MIG/ARC).
- Experience on screen bodies, chutes, hoppers, conveyor structures or similar heavy fabrication is an advantage.
- Willing to work at our Madukkarai plant, including overtime as required. Coimbatore-based or willing to relocate.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
