1. Business Development Manager

Company: Avakaza Geoscience Research Technologies — AGSRT
Location: Bengaluru, with client visits and business travel as required
Employment Type: Full-time, office-based with field responsibilities
Department: Business Development and Sales
Preferred Experience: 3–5 years in business development, B2B sales, institutional sales, corporate training, or technology-services sales
Salary:₹35,000 per month, with additional performance-based incentives applicable upon successful lead conversions.

About AGSRT

Avakaza Geoscience Research Technologies is a geospatial training and technology-solutions organisation working across Geographic Information Systems, remote sensing, WebGIS, software development, geospatial analytics, digital twins, and related consulting services. Its business includes professional training, corporate capacity building, institutional collaborations, and client-focused geospatial solutions.

Role Overview:

AGSRT is seeking a proactive, commercially focused Business Development Manager to acquire new clients, build institutional and corporate partnerships, increase training enrolments, and develop opportunities for its geospatial products and services.

The successful candidate will manage the sales process from prospect identification and requirement discovery through proposals, negotiation, closure, and account development. This is a hands-on, target-driven role requiring direct prospecting, regular client engagement, disciplined follow-up, and coordination with technical, training, marketing, and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Business growth and sales planning:
Develop monthly and quarterly business-development plans across professional training, corporate training, institutional partnerships, geospatial projects, and approved consulting or staffing services. Identify priority customer segments, build account-specific approaches, and work towards agreed revenue, order-booking, and collection targets.

New client acquisition and market development:
Generate business independently through cold calling, email outreach, qualified networking, referrals, events, and field visits. Identify and engage relevant decision-makers in companies, colleges, universities, research organisations, government departments, and other prospective client organisations.

Research customer needs and competitors to improve AGSRT’s positioning.

Corporate training and institutional partnerships:
Identify corporate skill-development requirements and coordinate customised training proposals with the training team. Build relationships with college management, heads of departments, placement officers, and faculty coordinators for workshops, faculty-development programmes, value-added courses, and training-centre partnerships. Progress approved partnerships into scheduled programmes and measurable business, rather than stopping at introductory meetings or signed MoUs.

Geospatial solutions, products, and consulting sales:
Develop opportunities for GIS mapping, remote-sensing analysis, WebGIS applications, dashboards, automation, digital twins, and approved sector-specific solutions. Understand the client’s problem, intended users, budget, decision-making process, and timeline. Coordinate demonstrations and technical discovery with specialists, and convert suitable opportunities into paid pilots, projects, implementation support, or recurring service engagements.

Training enrolments and enquiry conversion:
Oversee the commercial follow-up of training enquiries in coordination with the admissions team. Explain programme suitability, learning outcomes, prerequisites, delivery arrangements, fees, and approved policies accurately. Review enquiry-to-counselling and counselling-to-enrolment conversion, address recurring objections, and develop referral and repeat-learning opportunities without promising guaranteed employment.

Proposals, negotiation, and commercial discipline:
Prepare or coordinate presentations, proposals, quotations, and commercial submissions using approved templates. Ensure that proposals clearly describe scope, deliverables, assumptions, exclusions, responsibilities, payment milestones, and timelines.

Negotiate within delegated authority and obtain approval for discounts, special terms, partnership commitments, and changes to scope. Track relevant tender or consortium opportunities and coordinate submissions where approved by management.

Account management and delivery coordination:
Maintain relationships with clients and institutional partners after closure. Provide the delivery team with a complete handover of requirements, commitments, approved scope, and commercial terms. Coordinate payment follow-up with finance, escalate concerns promptly, and identify renewals, additional training, referrals, staffing requirements, or further projects. Technical delivery and recruitment execution will remain with the respective teams.

Pipeline management, reporting, and team coordination:
Maintain accurate records in the company’s customer relationship management system or approved tracker. Record prospect value, stage, decision-maker, expected closing date, follow-up history, and next action. Submit weekly pipeline and monthly performance reports, explain lost or delayed opportunities, and guide assigned executives on prospecting, qualification, communication, and follow-up.

Qualifications and Skills:

- A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, management, engineering, geoinformatics, or a related discipline; an MBA is preferred but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience acquiring clients, preparing proposals, negotiating commercial terms, and closing business. Experience in corporate training, education partnerships, IT services, GIS, or technical consulting is advantageous.
- Strong communication, presentation, relationship-building, negotiation, and business-writing skills. Professional English is required; Hindi and regional-language capability will support wider outreach.
- Competence in CRM tools, spreadsheets, presentations, and sales reporting, together with the willingness to learn AGSRT’s technical offerings and undertake regular client visits.

Technical expectation: The candidate does not need to be a GIS developer, but must learn to explain business applications, recognise customer requirements, and involve technical specialists appropriately.
