Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring the quality of crane components and completed cranes throughout the production process. The role involves inspection, testing, documentation, and coordination with production and engineering teams to ensure products meet approved drawings, specifications, standards, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Inspect raw materials, fabricated components, machined parts, and bought-out items.
- Perform in-process and final inspections of crane assemblies.
- Check dimensions, welding quality, alignment, fit-up, surface finish, and workmanship against approved drawings.
- Inspect critical crane components such as girders, end carriages, drums, hooks, rope arrangements, platforms, and structural assemblies.
- Verify welding procedures, weld quality, and visual inspection requirements.
- Coordinate with production and fabrication teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Prepare inspection reports, check sheets, NCRs, and quality records.
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented for quality problems.
- Conduct final inspection and functional testing of cranes before dispatch.
- Verify load testing, brake operation, limit switches, hoisting/lifting mechanisms, and other safety-related functions as applicable.
- Maintain calibration records for measuring and inspection instruments.
- Ensure compliance with applicable customer specifications, approved drawings,



and relevant quality standards.
- Coordinate with design, production, purchase, and service departments regarding quality issues.
- Support internal, customer, and third-party inspections.
- Maintain proper documentation and traceability of inspection activities.

Required Skills

- Knowledge of crane manufacturing and fabrication processes.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.;
- Knowledge of welding inspection and fabrication quality.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, gauges, etc.
- Knowledge of basic NDT methods is an advantage.
- Ability to identify manufacturing defects and perform root-cause analysis.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.
- Positive communication and coordination skills.

Qualification

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
