About the Business:

Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) is a greenfield venture of the Tata Group with expertise in manufacturing precision components.

Tata Electronics (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd.) is building India's first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Semiconductor Foundry. This facility will produce chips for applications such as power management ICs, display drivers, microcontrollers (MCUs), and high-performance computing logic, addressing the growing demand across automotive, computing and data storage, wireless communications, and artificial intelligence markets.

Space

Responsibilities:

Workstream Leadership & Technical Governance

- Lead the assigned product engineering workstream, integrating SME inputs and presenting technical recommendations at management review gates.
- Review and approve the technical basis of estimate prior to submission to bid management and costing teams.
- Drive evidence-based technical and commercial decision-making throughout the proposal lifecycle.

RFQ Review & Solution Development

- Review RFQs, drawings, specifications, BOMs, data packages, and customer standards to identify technical gaps and develop structured clarification lists.
- Define workstream solutions, assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, risks, mitigation plans, and implementation strategies.
- Translate customer requirements into compliant, cost-effective, and executable manufacturing solutions.

Mechanical Design Assurance & Industrialization

- Lead mechanical design assurance activities across the product lifecycle.
- Drive datum architecture development, RSS and worst-case tolerance stack-up convergence, and design robustness validation.
- Ensure design manufacturability through PFMEA-informed DFM methodologies and structured engineering reviews.
- Support tooling strategy development and mould-flow-driven optimization to improve manufacturability, quality, and production efficiency.

Reliability Validation & Production Readiness





- Lead structural and thermal reliability validation activities to ensure product performance and robustness.
- Oversee tooling qualification through T0, T1, and T2 builds and establish readiness criteria for production launch.
- Define acceptance criteria, validation plans, and key deliverables required to support NPI and volume manufacturing.

Planning, Costing & Business Case Development

- Develop estimates for quantities, cycle times, resource loading, equipment and tooling requirements, NRE costs, CapEx investments, lead times, and implementation milestones.
- Prepare auditable calculations, technical justifications, compliance matrices, proposal narratives, costing models, and management approval documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Customers, and Suppliers to ensure solution feasibility and execution readiness.
- Challenge unsupported assumptions and reconcile inconsistencies across product engineering, process engineering, test engineering, automation, quality, and supply chain functions.

Supplier & Customer Engagement

- Support supplier technical evaluations, quotation reviews, tooling assessments, and make-versus-buy decisions.
- Participate in customer clarification meetings, solution reviews, Red Team reviews, and Gold Team reviews to ensure proposal quality and timely closure of actions.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

- Maintain controlled templates, lessons learned repositories, design standards, and reusable estimation databases for future bids.
- Ensure compliance with Tata Electronics information security, confidentiality, quality, and document control requirements.

Essential Attributes:

1. Strong expertise in mechanical design assurance, design validation, and manufacturing industrialization.
2.



Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and driving technical decision-making through structured reviews.
3. Expertise in datum architecture development, GD&T; application, RSS and worst-case tolerance stack-up analysis, and dimensional control strategies.
4. Robust knowledge of structural, thermal, and reliability validation methodologies for complex product designs.
5. Experience in DFM/DFx implementation, PFMEA development, and process optimization for manufacturing readiness.
6. Hands-on experience with tooling development, mould-flow analysis, tooling qualification (T0-T2), and production ramp-up activities.
7. Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, engineering change control, configuration management, and release governance.
8. Proven experience supporting customer RFQs, technical proposals, NPI programs, and manufacturing industrialization initiatives within EMS or complex product environments.
9. Ability to identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and provide evidence-based recommendations to management.
10. Strong analytical, communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
11. Ability to work effectively with global customers and suppliers across multiple time zones.
12. Willingness to travel for customer workshops, supplier reviews, equipment trials, tooling validations, and program reviews as required.

Qualifications:

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or another discipline relevant to the role.
- Postgraduate specialization in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline is preferred.

Desired Experience Level:

- 10-15 years of experience in Product Design, Product Engineering, Mechanical Design Assurance, Manufacturing Industrialization, NPI, Tooling Development, or related engineering leadership roles within EMS, Electronics Manufacturing, Semiconductor, Automotive, Consumer Electronics, or other complex product manufacturing environments.
