Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced IT Manager to lead and scale the technology team in Chennai for our client. The role will be responsible for building a high-performing offshore IT function, managing technology delivery, developing IT processes, and working closely with the IT leadership team and stakeholders in the main office.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing large technology teams, preferably 80+ employees, within the Trading, Capital Markets or Wealth Management industry.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage a large IT/development team in Chennai, including people development, performance management and talent retention.
- Support the setup, growth and scaling of the offshore technology centre.
- Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with the wider business and technology objectives.
- Work closely with the IT Director and HODs in the main office to deliver technology initiatives and projects.
- Oversee IT projects, ensuring effective delivery, governance and stakeholder management.
- Establish and continuously improve IT processes, development practices and operational efficiency.
- Partner with recruitment and business leaders to hire and build key technology teams.
- Drive adoption of modern technology practices including Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, Cloud and modern application architectures.




- Provide leadership across technology areas including software development, infrastructure, networking and security.
- Explore and drive the adoption of emerging technologies, including Generative/Agentic AI and GitHub Copilot.
- Manage distributed teams and effectively collaborate across different locations and time zones.

Key Requirements

- At least 10 years of overall IT experience, with significant experience in technology leadership/management.
- Proven experience managing large development or technology teams (80+ people).
- Experience building or scaling offshore/Global Capability Centre (GCC/COE) technology teams.
- Solid people leadership, hiring and talent management experience.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, DevOps, Cloud and CI/CD.
- Good understanding of modern architectures, including microservices.
- Exposure to technologies such as C#/.NET, Java, Networking and Cyber Security.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with global/distributed technology teams.
- Mandatory domain experience in Trading, Capital Markets, Investment Management or Wealth Management.
- Exposure to AI/GenAI/Agentic AI and GitHub Copilot would be an advantage.
