This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a NAM Payroll Tax Specialist based in India.
This role serves as a subject matter expert in employment and payroll tax compliance across the United States and Canada. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate tax treatment, timely filings, and compliance across federal, state, provincial, and local jurisdictions. The position combines tax research, payroll adjustments, reconciliations, registrations, audit support, and employee inquiry resolution. You will work with high volumes of payroll and tax data while investigating issues and driving them through to resolution. Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail will be essential in identifying risks and maintaining accurate payroll processes. This is an opportunity to contribute to process improvements while supporting critical quarter-end, year-end, and special project activities.
Accountabilities
- Research, investigate, and resolve US and Canadian federal, state, provincial, and local payroll tax notices.
- Track tax issues through resolution and maintain thorough documentation to support audits and compliance requirements.
- Process payroll tax adjustments, W2c corrections, and T4 amendments accurately and within required timelines.
- Ensure employees receive accurate tax treatment across multiple US states and Canadian provinces.
- Manage new tax jurisdiction and entity registrations using Smart Compliance.
- Resolve system exceptions and validate tax configurations to support accurate payroll processing.
- Support quarter-end and year-end payroll tax activities, including W-2 and T4 preparation, reconciliations, filings, and validation.
- Manage high-volume employee payroll and tax inquiries while providing responsive, customer-focused support.
- Support employment tax audits by preparing documentation and providing timely responses.
- Identify and recommend process improvements that reduce compliance risk and increase operational efficiency.
- Maintain flexibility to support peak periods, including quarter-end and year-end activities, as well as special projects.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in employment or payroll tax covering both the United States and Canada.
- Strong working knowledge of Workday and Smart Compliance, including tax registrations and exception management.
- Hands-on experience with quarter-end and year-end payroll tax processes, including filings, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Experience processing payroll tax adjustments, W2c corrections, and T4 amendments.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- FPC or PCP certification is desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to organize and interpret payroll and tax data.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage high volumes of employee tickets and inquiries with a strong customer-service mindset.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to changing regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute positively to a team environment.
- Familiarity with executive compensation payroll and tax reporting is desirable.
