Title: Copilot Lead Engineer

Job Description

The Lead Engineer owns solution engineering, implementation, support transition, and optimization of enterprise agents built with Microsoft Copilot Studio. The role converts defined business outcomes into secure, governed, maintainable, and measurable agent solutions grounded in approved enterprise data and integrated with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, Dataverse, APIs, and line-of-business platforms.

Copilot Studio Engineering

- Design and build enterprise agents, conversational experiences, topics, actions, orchestration, grounding, fallback, escalation, and channel experiences.
- Apply pro-code extensibility where low-code capability is insufficient while preserving maintainability and supportability.
- Engineer reusable agent components, prompt patterns, templates, connectors, and deployment standards.

Integration & Automation





- Integrate agents with SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Dataverse, Power Automate, Microsoft Graph, SQL, APIs, service management tools, and approved business systems.
- Implement authentication, authorization, connection references, environment variables, secret handling, and error management.
- Develop traceable workflows that fail safely and route users to appropriate human support when required.

AI Governance, Security & Responsible AI

- Apply environment strategy, DLP policies, permission trimming, data minimization, auditability, content controls, and Responsible AI practices.
- Partner with security, privacy, compliance, and data owners to approve knowledge sources, actions, and production access.
- Test for groundedness, unsafe actions, unauthorized disclosure, prompt injection, hallucination risk, and inappropriate automation.

Application Lifecycle & Operations

- Use governed development, test, UAT, and production environments with source control, solution packaging, release approval, and rollback planning.
- Define monitoring, analytics, support runbooks, ownership, incident handling, knowledge maintenance, and service transition.
- Optimize agent quality using analytics, user feedback, containment, escalation, latency, and outcome measures.

Leadership & Customer Delivery

- Lead engineering workstreams, facilitate technical discovery, estimate work, assign engineering tasks, and assure solution quality.
- Mentor Copilot Studio engineers and conduct code, configuration, prompt, security, and release reviews.




- Demonstrate business outcomes through showcases, adoption plans, success stories, and reusable delivery assets.
- Robust delivery experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Dataverse, Power Automate, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Graph, connectors, APIs, and authentication patterns.
- Demonstrated ability to build production-grade agents with governed knowledge grounding, secure actions, graceful fallback, human escalation, and operational monitoring.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Purview, DLP, least privilege, environment strategy, data residency, audit, privacy, and Responsible AI controls.
- Experience with solution lifecycle practices, source control, managed solutions, release pipelines, testing, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Ability to translate business processes into agent capabilities, measurable outcomes, acceptance criteria, and adoption plans.
- Strong technical leadership, documentation, stakeholder communication, estimation, and mentoring capability
- Business outcome, user journey, in-scope capabilities, exclusions, and acceptance criteria are approved.
- Knowledge sources and integrations have named owners, approved permissions, and validated data quality.
- Agent responses are grounded, permissions are respected, citations or source references are used where required, and fallback behavior is tested.
- Actions use least privilege, validate inputs, handle errors, prevent unintended repeat execution, and create appropriate audit evidence.
- Security, privacy, DLP, Responsible AI, UAT, release, and operational readiness reviews are complete.
- Monitoring, analytics, support model, escalation path, knowledge refresh ownership, deployment artifacts, and rollback plan are documented.
- Business owner accepts the solution and the measurement baseline for adoption and realized value.
