JOB PROFILE – SERVICE ENGINEER

Position: Service Engineer – South Region
Primary Locations: Bangalore
Region: South India
Department: Service & Technical Support.
1. Job Purpose
To provide reliable and timely installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, breakdown support, and technical service for TECNA WELDCON welding equipment and automation systems at customer locations.
The Service Engineer will primarily support customers in Bangalore and Hyderabad, while also providing service support across the South India region as required.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Installation & Commissioning
- Installation and commissioning of TECNA welding machines, resistance welding equipment, weld controllers, welding guns, and related systems.
- Conduct machine trials and ensure equipment performance as per approved technical specifications.
- Support customer teams during machine installation, production trials, and handover.
- Verify electrical, pneumatic, cooling-water, and mechanical connections during commissioning.
B. Breakdown & Troubleshooting
- Attend customer breakdown calls and provide timely technical support.
- Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, PLC, HMI, pneumatic, mechanical, and welding-related issues.
- Diagnose problems in welding controllers, transformers, SCR/thyristor systems, MFDC systems, welding guns, cylinders, valves, sensors, and associated equipment.
- Coordinate with TECNA WELDCON India technical teams and TECNA Italy/HQ when higher-level technical support is required.
- Prepare detailed breakdown reports and corrective-action recommendations.
C. Preventive Maintenance
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance activities at customer locations.
- Inspect welding machines, controllers, guns, transformers, cables, cooling systems, pneumatic systems, and safety circuits.
- Identify potential failures and recommend corrective actions before breakdowns occur.
- Maintain service history and equipment records for key customers.
D. Customer Support
- Maintain professional relationships with customer maintenance, production, engineering, quality, and purchase teams.
- Understand customer technical requirements and provide appropriate technical solutions.
- Ensure timely response to customer complaints and service requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and basic operator/maintenance training wherever required.
- Support customer trials for new applications and equipment.
E. PLC & Automation Support
- Troubleshoot basic PLC, HMI, sensors,
actuators, relays, contactors, and control circuits.
- Understand and modify basic PLC ladder logic when required.
- Troubleshoot machine sequence and interlocking-related issues.
- Coordinate with automation specialists for advanced PLC/robot/automation issues.
F. Welding Application Support
- Support customers in resistance welding applications.
- Understand basic welding parameters such as welding current, weld time, electrode force, squeeze time, hold time, and weld sequence.
- Assist in welding trials and parameter setting.
- Support weld quality investigations and basic process troubleshooting.
- Handle basic operation and troubleshooting of weld testers/analyzers.
G. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare service reports after every customer visit.
- Maintain records of breakdowns, preventive maintenance, spare parts, and machine status.
- Submit daily/weekly service activity reports.
- Provide feedback regarding recurring technical issues and required design improvements.
- Maintain customer equipment history and service records.
H. Spare Parts & Service Coordination
- Identify required spare parts during troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
- Coordinate with the service/parts team for spare requirements.
- Support customers in identifying critical and recommended spare parts.
- Follow up on pending spare-part requirements until closure.
3. Primary Customer Coverage
The engineer will be primarily responsible for service support in:
Bangalore / Karnataka
- Bangalore and surrounding industrial areas
- Hosur
- Tumkur
- Mysore
- Other Karnataka customer locations as required
Hyderabad / Telangana
- Hyderabad and surrounding industrial areas
- Other Telangana customer locations as required
South India
- Tamil Nadu
- Karnataka
- Telangana
- Andhra Pradesh
- Kerala
Travel across South India will be required depending on customer requirements and project activities.
4. Required Technical Skills
- Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or Mechanical Engineering.
Freshers are also welcome.
- 1–3 years of experience in industrial machinery service,
automation, welding equipment, or similar manufacturing equipment.
- Good knowledge of electrical control panels and industrial electrical systems.
- Basic PLC and HMI troubleshooting knowledge.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems, sensors, solenoid valves, cylinders, and control components.
- Ability to read electrical and pneumatic drawings.
- Basic knowledge of resistance welding equipment and welding controllers is preferred.
- Troubleshooting skills for industrial machinery and automation systems.
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to prepare service reports.
5. Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following industries will be an advantage:
- Automotive
- Auto components
- Sheet-metal manufacturing
- Resistance welding
- Industrial automation
- Machine building
- Press shop / fabrication
- Production machinery
- Robotics and automation
Experience with TECNA or other resistance welding equipment, MFDC/AC welding controllers, welding guns, transformers, and welding automation will be an added advantage.

Location: Bangalore
Travel: Extensive travel across South India
Driving Licence: Mandatory
Two-wheeler: Preferred
Language: English required; Kannada/Telugu/Tamil knowledge will be an advantage.
