Going to School seeks Entrepreneurs in Residence to undertake field-based research and development into enterprises that address climate change, based in Kishanganj, Bihar.

This is an offline, field-based role. Each entrepreneur will conduct original research, interviews and data collection, and take original photographs. No artificial intelligence tools are to be used at any stage of the research, writing or photography.

The enterprises to be researched (and please add more)

Vegan leather made from pineapple waste.

Banana leaf packaging to replace plastic, including banana stem and fibre products.

Eco bricks made from plastic waste, crop waste or other local materials.

Solar grids, solar repair and solar panel upcycling.

Biogas plant repair and community models, including cylinder and community kitchen applications.

Mushroom packaging made from crop waste.

The scope of work

Entrepreneurs will research seasonality, start-up costs, machinery, space, electricity requirements, market demand, competition and time to profitability for the enterprise studied. Entrepreneurs will assess climate impact across three measures: people, planet and profit.



Entrepreneurs will interview entrepreneurs, customers and colleagues, and photograph tools, workspaces, products and processes. Entrepreneurs will produce a one-slide overview, a ten-slide pitch deck with photography and business case, a complete business plan and a cash-flow model.

Experience required

A background in research and development, business planning or business modelling.

An MBA or equivalent qualification in business, finance or a related field.

Experience in sustainability, climate change or environmental impact work.

Experience in engineering, particularly relevant to solar or biogas systems, is an advantage.

Working knowledge of cash-flow modelling and financial planning.

Experience in design for products, supply chains, enterprises.

Demonstrated commitment to original, field-based research without the use of AI tools.
