Description

We are looking for a proficient Engineer specialized in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Power Plant Controllers (PPC). The ideal candidate will be responsible for design, engineering, testing, and providing site support, with a focus on compliance with industry standards and grid codes.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

1. Project Design and Engineering:
- Participate in project design and detailed engineering.
- Understand and create Single Line Diagrams for Electrical Networks and Switchgear components.
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM), Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Heat Load/Current Load Calculations, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and Input/Output (IO) assignments.

2. Power Plant Controller Design:
- Design and detail PPC systems for PV Solar, Wind, and BESS for Front of the Meter (FTM) applications ensuring compliance with Indian Grid Code.
- Work on custom functions including Voltage & Frequency regulation, Active & Reactive Power control, Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT), High Voltage Ride Through (HVRT), and Black Start capabilities.

3. Testing and Compliance:
- Develop test procedures and conduct test demonstrations in alignment with grid code compliance.

4. Simulation and Modeling:
- Perform PSCAD and PSSE model simulations for renewable energy projects.

5. SCADA System Preparation:
- Prepare and configure databases for SCADA systems.

6. PLC/RTU Programming:
- Engage in PLC/RTU programming using Function Block and Structured Text Language.

7. Electrical Network Design:
- Exhibit knowledge in designing and detailed engineering of Electrical Networks for HV/MV/LV Systems as per the latest engineering standards.

8. Electrical Protocol Experience:




- Have experience in electrical protocols such as IEC61850, IEC60870-101/104, ICCP, OPC, DNP3, and Modbus.
- Interface with 3rd party devices on Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, and other relevant protocols.

9. Protection Relay and SCADA Interfacing:
- Interface Electrical Protection Relays/Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) with SCADA systems.
- Collaborate with Electrical Switchgear vendors on project activities.

10. Project Participation:
- Participate in Pre-FAT, FAT, and Integrated FAT (I-FAT) with EPC/End Users.
- Be prepared to travel to global sites as necessary.

11. Customer Interaction:
- Engage in discussions with customers concerning project updates and work assignments.

12. Site Installation Supervision:
- Supervise installation and commissioning of BESS projects, including Containers, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), HVAC, and power cabling.
- Oversee BESS Container and Module installation, jumper connections, and battery module installations.
- Interface with 3rd party vendors to ensure effective collaboration.
- Supervise installations of high-voltage DC panels & systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications.
- Prepare As-Built drawings and documentation, including cable schedules as per site modifications.
- Monitor contractor progress and manage site operations





Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E. Electrical/B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering).
- 12+ years of relevant technical experience in the delivery of electrical projects, including electrical systems and panel boards.
- Prior experience in data center electrical design or energy storage integration is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Customer-focused with a team-oriented mindset and adaptability to changing environments.
- Self-motivated and capable of functioning with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a diverse and global environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth understanding of BESS project design and delivery, including resolution of site technical issues.
- Experience in reviewing customer and engineering design requirements and creating project scope documents, technical reports, and proposals.
- Proven track record in delivering renewable energy systems, particularly BESS and photovoltaic (PV) systems.
- Knowledgeable about inverters and DC converters within BESS projects, including inverter controls and operational standards.
- Proficient in analyzing single-line drawings, system studies, and protective relay settings applicable to renewable projects.
- Familiarity with industry standards and grid codes relevant to electrical power systems.
- Experience with power engineering modeling software such as ETAP or SKM.
- Proficient in modeling using Excel, Homer, and/or Matlab and interpreting simulation results.
