Remote Contract Assignment – Oil & Gas Plant, Middle East We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer / Commissioning Procedures Author to support the preparation of commissioning and process-related procedures for an Oil & Gas plant located in the Middle East. The assignment will be performed remotely for a project located in Saudi Arabia for an initial period of approximately 3 months. Role purpose The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, drafting, reviewing and finalising technical procedures related to pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and operational readiness. The role requires the ability to translate engineering and process information into explicit, technically accurate and practical procedures for use by commissioning and operations teams. Key responsibilities - Prepare commissioning, pre-commissioning and start-up procedures for an Oil & Gas plant. - Develop procedures covering process systems, plant systems and associated equipment. - Review and incorporate information from: - P&IDs; - process descriptions and operating philosophies; - cause-and-effect diagrams; - equipment datasheets; - vendor documentation; - commissioning plans and systemisation documents. - Prepare procedures for activities such as flushing, blowing, leak testing, drying, inerting, chemical cleaning, functional testing, commissioning and start-up, where applicable. - Ensure that procedures clearly define prerequisites, responsibilities, required resources, safety precautions, execution steps and acceptance criteria. - Coordinate technical comments with Process, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, HSE and Operations teams.



- Incorporate review comments and maintain document revisions. - Ensure consistency between procedures, drawings, operating philosophies and project specifications. - Support the preparation of operational readiness and handover documentation. - Identify missing information, technical discrepancies and interface issues. - Deliver high-quality documentation in accordance with project standards, contractual requirements and agreed schedules. Requirements - Degree or technical qualification in Chemical, Process, Mechanical or related Engineering. - Proven experience as a Technical Writer, Procedure Author or Commissioning Documentation Engineer in the Oil & Gas or process industry. - Demonstrated experience writing commissioning, pre-commissioning, start-up or operating procedures for industrial plants. - Good understanding of process systems, plant operations and commissioning activities. - Ability to interpret P&IDs;, process flow diagrams, cause-and-effect diagrams and technical vendor documentation. - Previous experience with Oil & Gas, petrochemical, refinery, LNG or similar process facilities. - Strong technical writing, editing and document-control skills. - Ability to work independently and manage multiple procedures within a demanding schedule. - Excellent written and spoken English. - Previous experience supporting projects in the Middle East would be an advantage. - Experience working remotely with international project teams. The ideal candidate is a technically strong writer with practical commissioning knowledge and the ability to produce clear, usable and project-compliant procedures with limited supervision.
