Position: Network Engineer

Job Summary

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting an organization's network infrastructure. The role supports network availability, performance, security, and connectivity across corporate offices, data centers, cloud environments, and remote users.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Network Infrastructure Management

- Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure.
- Manage routers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, VPNs, and related network devices.
- Monitor network performance, availability, capacity, and reliability.
- Perform network upgrades, configuration changes, and hardware replacements.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, and documentation.

2. Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting

- Monitor network devices and connectivity using network monitoring tools.
- Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP, routing, and connectivity issues.
- Analyze network logs and performance metrics to identify root causes.
- Respond to network incidents and service interruptions.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

3. Routing & Switching

- Configure and troubleshoot routing and switching technologies.
- Work with protocols such as:
- TCP/IP
- BGP
- OSPF
- EIGRP
- VLAN
- STP
- DHCP
- DNS

- Configure VLANs, trunking, routing policies, and access controls.
- Optimize network performance and traffic flow.

4. Network Security

- Support configuration and administration of network firewalls.
- Implement network access controls and security policies.
- Monitor network traffic for potential security issues.
- Support VPN and secure remote-access solutions.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity teams during security incidents.
- Apply security patches and firmware updates as required.

5. Cloud Networking

- Support networking infrastructure in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Configure and troubleshoot virtual networks, subnets,



routing, VPNs, and security groups.
- Support connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and cloud environments.
- Work with cloud and infrastructure teams on network architecture.

6. Wireless Networking

- Configure and troubleshoot enterprise wireless networks.
- Monitor wireless performance and coverage.
- Troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity and authentication issues.
- Support wireless access points and controllers.

7. VPN & Remote Connectivity

- Configure and troubleshoot site-to-site and remote-access VPNs.
- Support secure connectivity for remote employees and business locations.
- Troubleshoot authentication and connectivity problems.
- Maintain VPN configurations and documentation.

8. Network Projects

- Participate in network infrastructure upgrades and migrations.
- Assist with data center and office network deployments.
- Support network expansion and recent-site implementations.
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Test network changes before and after implementation.

9. Incident & Change Management

- Respond to network incidents according to established SLAs.
- Create and update incident, problem, and change-management tickets.
- Perform planned network changes during approved maintenance windows.
- Document changes and maintain configuration records.
- Escalate critical issues to senior engineers, vendors, or management as required.

10. Vendor Management

- Coordinate with network equipment and service providers.
- Open and manage vendor support cases.
- Follow up on hardware replacements, circuit issues, and technical escalations.




- Evaluate technical solutions and assist with network equipment procurement.

11. Documentation & Reporting

- Network topology diagrams
- IP address documentation
- Device inventory
- Firewall configurations
- Network configurations
- VPN documentation
- Circuit information
- Incident reports
- Change records
- Disaster recovery documentation

12. Compliance & Best Practices

- Follow company network security policies and IT standards.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
- Maintain appropriate access controls and network documentation.
- Follow change-management and security procedures.
- Protect confidential company and customer information.
