Role & responsibilities

We are looking for a candidate with a strong utility and GIS domain background in playing a techno-functional lead role in implementing GIS solutions for Electric/ Gas Utilities specific to GE Smallworld. The candidate will need to have experience in implementing GIS solutions in North American Utilities markets. Experience in implementing other GIS systems will be an added advantage. Candidates with strong development background in GE Smallworld will be preferred in this role.

The typical responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:

- Should be able to lead the design, build, test and deploy solution using GE Smallworld, Magik code
- Should be familiar with the latest technological trends in the GIS Industry and the roadmap of GE Smallworld solutions.
- Should be able to contribute to the functional workshops with business for GIS requirements
- Should be able to do the demos during the functional workshops using GE Smallworld. Should participate in requirement discussions with the client for the GIS program.
- Should be able to map the customer requirements into the product and suggest workarounds/solutions for the requirements
- Should be able to guide the developers in resolving issues related to the development.




- Help and contribute to the architecture and design of the entire GIS/GE Smallworld solution and the key interfaces with sufficient research so that it adheres to the best practices in the industry.
- Develop GE Smallworld based POCs to showcase ideas, prepare demos for the business users.
- Should be able to design the forms, workflows, and integration with the required systems.
- Should be able to perform issue resolutions during support /Post-Go Live phase.
- Should be able to assist the Testing team with the functional areas to be tested.
- The candidate must be a team player and is also expected to help the project team with any functional and technical issues that may arise during the course of the project.
- Participate in project review meetings (internal and with the client)
- Should be open to learning any new technologies in the GIS space if required.

Preferred candidate profile

- 3-12 years of total IT industry experience, with at least 3 years in implementing GE Smallworld based Solutions.
- Knowledge in Electric/Gas Transmission and Distribution domain
- Valuable interpersonal communication and analytical ability
- Strong soft skills required
- Ready to travel to client locations as needed
- Hands on experience on GE Smallworld 5.x, working on GSS Product
- Proficiency in writing Stored Procedures, Functions in PL/SQL for Oracle
- Databases - Oracle Spatial
- Experience in ETL tool like FME
