Position: Senior Software Engineer 2 Backend (Integrations, Java & Go)

Role Summary

Owns the integration and operational-domain half of the backend: the growing Java 21 / Spring Boot “digital-platform” on ECS, the Canvas LMS integration, the integration gateways for third-party partner, the email service, logging services, and the Go-based OpenTelemetry log collector. This is a polyglot role: Java and Python daily, Go occasionally.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and grow the Spring Boot digital-platform (Java 21, Maven, springdoc/OpenAPI, ECS deployment).
- Own the integrations and partner-facing integration gateways
- Design resilient third-party API integration patterns: retries, idempotency, webhook handling, rate limiting.




- Apply the standard service template and dependency-remediation program to owned Python services.

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years backend engineering across at least two languages.
- Solid Java 17/21 + Spring Boot + Maven in production.
- Strong Python (Flask, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, Pydantic/Marshmallow).
- Third-party REST API integration at depth: auth flows, webhooks, pagination, failure handling.
- PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Docker; ECS or Kubernetes deployment experience.
- API documentation discipline (OpenAPI/springdoc/flasgger).
