Role & responsibilities

- Responsible for sourcing specialised components, materials, and technologies required for research and product development activities.
- Requires strong technical understanding, ability to work closely with design and engineering teams, and expertise in identifying niche vendors for prototypes, trials, and new product builds.
- R&D; Sourcing & Prototype Procurement -Source specialized components, sensors, electronics, mechanical parts, and custom-made items required for R&D; projects.
- Identify vendors capable of low-volume, high-precision, and custom manufacturing. Manage procurement for prototypes, new concepts, trials, and experimental builds.
- Work closely with R&D; engineers to understand technical specifications and functional requirements.
- Vendor & Technology Research: Evaluate and onboard vendors with advanced or emerging technologies relevant to R&D; needs.
- Conduct feasibility checks, technical discussions, and ensure suppliers meet R&D-specific; quality requirements.
- Technical & Specification Alignment: Convert engineering requirements and drawings into clear RFQs with full technical clarity. Collaborate with design, mechanical, electrical, and software teams to finalize specifications.
- Costing, Budgeting & Planning: Support R&D; budgeting by preparing cost estimates for prototype builds and experimental phases. Track costs vs. budget and highlight deviations early.




- Ensure R&D; procurement stays within budget while meeting quality and performance expectations.
- Lead Times & Project Coordination: Plan procurement timelines aligned with R&D; project milestones.
- Track long-lead components and high-dependency items to avoid delays in prototype builds.
- Quality, Testing & Incoming Inspection: Ensure procured materials meet R&D; quality standards through Incoming Inspection. Coordinate with the R&D; team to validate the performance of components used in prototypes. Address any non-conformities immediately with suppliers and ensure corrective actions.
- Process Development & Documentation: Maintain documentation including RFQs, technical evaluation sheets, PO records, prototype BOMs, and version-controlled material lists. Support the transition from prototype BOM to production-ready BOM. Contribute to improving procurement processes tailored for R&D; needs.

Preferred candidate profile

- Any engineering graduates with 3-6 years of experience in Sourcing
- Experience in R&D; Sourcing & Prototype Procurement, Vendor & Technology Research, Technical & Specification Alignment, Costing, Budgeting & Planning, Lead Times & Project Coordination, Quality, Testing & Incoming Inspection, Process Development & Documentation, Cross-functional Collaboration.
- Robust vendor research and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, inventory tools (ZOHO/ERP NXT preferred), and MS Excel.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
