JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: AM/DM/ Manager Procurement

Role Objective

Manage procurement of spares, consumables, services, and project materials for a large integrated

steel plant, ensuring timely availability at optimum cost, quality, and commercial terms while

supporting inventory optimization and procurement transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

• Execute procurement of MRO spares, consumables, services, and project materials.

• Handle RFQs, techno-commercial evaluations, negotiations, and PO/contract finalization.

• Develop alternate sources and support vendor development for critical items.

• Drive Rate Contracts / ARC, VMI, standardization, and cost-reduction initiatives.

• Ensure timely material availability through effective vendor coordination and expediting.

Vendor Management

• Manage supplier relationships and monitor quality, delivery, and commercial performance.

• Resolve supply and commercial issues with vendors and internal stakeholders.

• Conduct vendor performance reviews and support development of alternate suppliers.

Inventory & Stores





• Coordinate with Stores and user departments to maintain optimum inventory levels.

SAP, Digitalization & MIS

• Manage procurement transactions through SAP MM and e-procurement systems.

• Monitor PR-to-PO cycle time, pending orders, savings, and supplier performance.

• Support procurement digitalization, material-code rationalization, and analytics initiatives.

Compliance & Commercial

• Ensure adherence to procurement policies, delegation of authority, and audit requirements.

• Support commercial evaluation covering price, payment terms, freight, taxes, warranty, and

LDs.

• Support import procurement documentation, including LC and Bills of Entry, wherever

applicable.

Qualification & Experience

• Graduate in Engineering / Commerce; MBA/PGDM preferred.

• 5-6 years of experience in Procurement / Materials / Supply Chain, preferably in steel,

metals, heavy engineering, or large-scale manufacturing.

• Hands-on experience in MRO procurement, vendor management, negotiations, and SAP MM.
