Role: IBM SevOne NPM Engineer / Network Monitoring Engineer

We are looking for an experienced IBM SevOne Network Performance Management (NPM) Engineer responsible for monitoring, administering, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure using IBM SevOne NPM.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor enterprise network infrastructure using IBM SevOne NPM.
- Perform device discovery, onboarding, configuration, and ongoing administration in SevOne.
- Configure and troubleshoot SNMP v2/v3 monitoring and polling.
- Monitor network parameters such as:
- CPU and memory utilization
- Interface availability and utilization
- Bandwidth and traffic
- Packet loss
- Latency
- Network errors and discards

- Configure and manage alerts, thresholds, policies, dashboards, and performance reports.
- Monitor and troubleshoot SNMP traps and performance-related events. SevOne can use SNMP trap events for alerting and integrate alerts through mechanisms such as webhooks.
- Perform first-level/second-level troubleshooting of network performance and monitoring issues.
- Analyze alerts and identify performance degradation, capacity issues, and network abnormalities.
- Coordinate with Network, Infrastructure, Application, and OEM/vendor teams for issue resolution.
- Create and manage scheduled and on-demand network performance reports.
- Perform incident, problem, and change management activities in accordance with ITIL processes.
- Troubleshoot device polling failures, SNMP communication issues, incorrect metrics, and monitoring gaps.
- Support SevOne upgrades, patches, migrations,



and platform maintenance activities.
- Perform health checks and ensure monitoring platform availability and stability.
- Create and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge articles.
- Support automation and integration requirements using SevOne APIs where applicable. IBM provides SevOne NPM APIs for administration and integration use cases.

Required Technical Skills

- Hands-on experience with IBM SevOne NPM / SevOne NMS
- Good understanding of SNMP v2/v3, SNMP Traps and MIB/OID concepts
- Knowledge of NetFlow / network traffic monitoring
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking
- Routing and switching fundamentals
- DNS, DHCP and basic network troubleshooting
- Experience with network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and wireless infrastructure
- Experience in dashboard, report, threshold and alert configuration
- Valuable understanding of network KPIs and performance monitoring
- Basic Linux/Unix knowledge
- Understanding of REST APIs and monitoring-tool integrations is preferred
- SevOne NPM is designed to provide performance monitoring and application-aware visibility across modern network infrastructure

Preferred Skills

- ITIL knowledge/certification
- ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM tool experience
- Experience working in NOC / Network Operations environments
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, IBM Netcool, Splunk, Dynatrace, Nagios, or similar tools
- Basic scripting knowledge in Python/Shell
- Experience handling P1/P2 incidents and major incident bridges
- Knowledge of cloud and hybrid network monitoring
