Purpose/Objective

To ensure effective implementation of fire prevention, fire protection, emergency preparedness, and safety management systems across the thermal power plant.
The role is responsible for maintaining statutory compliance, conducting risk assessments, leading emergency response initiatives, and promoting a solid safety culture to safeguard personnel, assets, and plant operations

Key Responsibilities of Role

Fire Protection & Emergency Management - Ensure availability, reliability, and operational readiness of all fire protection systems including hydrant networks, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, fire alarm systems, gas suppression systems, and portable firefighting equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance of fire protection systems.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and fire evacuation procedures.
- Lead emergency response during fire incidents and coordinate with external emergency services.
- Organize and conduct mock drills, emergency preparedness exercises, and rescue operations.
Safety Management - Implement safety policies, procedures, and standards in line with statutory requirements and company guidelines.
- Conduct hazard identification, risk assessment, and implementation of control measures.
- Ensure compliance with work permit systems including Hot Work, Height Work, Electrical Isolation, and Confined Space Entry.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to safety requirements.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
Compliance & Audits - Ensure compliance with Factory Act, Fire Safety Regulations,



National Building Code (Fire Provisions), PESO guidelines, and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external safety audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
- Maintain fire and safety records, statutory documents, inspection reports, and compliance trackers.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and local fire departments for inspections and approvals.
Training & Awareness - Conduct fire and safety induction programs for employees and contractors.
- Organize awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, safety workshops, and fire prevention training.
- Develop competency of emergency response teams and fire crew members.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the plant.
Risk Assessment & Loss Prevention - Carry out fire risk assessments, HAZOP reviews, and safety inspections across plant facilities.
- Identify critical fire and safety risks in Boiler, Turbine, CHP, Fuel Oil Systems, Hydrogen Systems, Ash Handling, and Electrical Installations.
- Recommend and implement risk mitigation measures to prevent incidents and losses.

Qualifications and Experience

/B.
Tech in Fire & Safety Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering.
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety / Fire & Safety from a recognized institute is preferred.
- 3–7 years of experience in Fire & Safety operations in Thermal Power Plants, Power Projects, Process Industries, Steel, Cement, or Heavy Manufacturing industries.
